Consider this: The characters in Gurren Lagann don’t change between the original series and the highschool AU.  
Viral is still an outclassed badass.  
Adiane is still a psycho with a scorpion tail.  
Lordgenome is still a powerful man with good intentions.
 
And those are the bad guys.

Monster High has gone all crappy anyway since they started making new characters. In fact, I’m completely out of the MH fandom now. Any new character after Venus and Rochelle is just plain crap. I want it back to when Abbey and Spectra were just introduced! D:

Essentially it’s Majora’s Mask, FiM redux.

See, overacting scenery chewing badasses + Giant robots= Awesome.

Adding the less insane FiM characters to a high school setting though? That’s sounds significantly less interesting, espically for me, who finds the fantasy aspect of the series it’s most endearing piece.
 
Though it would be awesome if Twilight still has her magic in the new world and gets in a massive battle with the cops at some point.

I don;t think many of you realize this is being made to compeat with Monster High, it’s likely not intended to appeal to ‘bronies’.  
But who knows, it may be lesbian porn and throw us all for a loop.

Not the same characters that ACT exacly LIKE the original characters.  
They will most likely also have the same voice actors and color as well.

Yeah, but they’re most likely going to be exactly the same in personality and characterization as the real Mane 6.

I’ll still watch it anyway. Don’t give two squats about the setting. Hopefully Twilight will bumble about the school getting confused by classes and and the high tech.

You’d think that would be a good thing. Not only does it make her have to deal with being a strange creature in an alternate dimension, but if the “analogs” she meets are terrible they have no effect on FiM in the slightest.

Big difference there, Guren Gakuenhen still has everyone act the same, it’s just the same Lagann characters just put in high school.  
Equestria girls has been said not to be ALL the very same characters.

There’s a large difference between anime and Equestria girls.
