Considering Tirek was the villain of the S4 finale, I might have made my post closer to when Rainbow Rocks came out, long before Season 7 was even confirmed, let alone when it aired. Ergo, “do you even watch the show” is rather asinine of you.

Remember when every season 4 episode ended with this kind of plothook, that was blatantly obvious they have no intention of following up.

What? That was clearly just a confirmation that the Shadow Pony existed for the sake of the mystery of the episode. It wasn’t any form of foreshadowing or anything of the like.

True but I’d like to see a new villain. It might just because I’ve seen her in the comics so I think shes had her time to shine again.
 
Mostly, it’s just with Discord reformed (if just barely. I still think he’s trying to get ponies hurt just indirectly now), the dark powers that are Nightmare not possessing any pony, and Sombra… let’s say incapacitated, Chrysalis needs some company on the Villain table.
 
Maybe the Pony of Shadows can be an emissary or the start of this new villain. He/she/it already saw the mane six in action so it sure knows about them.
