Not a Llama - Happy April Fools Day!

Yeah man, rap is meant to be violent because most rappers came from violent suburbs like Compton, Chicago, Memphis, Atlanta and many more. N.W.A. started this trend because it’s a reflection of their reality; so are a whole lot of rappers.

Ya’ll want conscious non-violent rap, Lupe Fiasco’s one of the only options. But most violent rap lyrics are very explicit but true.

people saying rap has no redeeming values that may be true but back in the day when beastie boys, public, and nwa were around it was real

That’s because 98% of bronies only listen to dubstep, shit metal and classic rock and try to grow their e-peens by spitting on anyone who listens to what they don’t designate as “real music”.

I’m a huge fan of rap and this is so true. I’m not a fan of dubstep which is a genre 99 percent of bronies love, but I don’t insult that genre because everybody has different tastes. It sucks how as soon as I say I like 2 Chainz, ASAP Rocky, and Kanye everything changes as a brony.

Come on everybody, let’s make cocaine cool, we need a few more half-naked women up in the pool– and hold this MAC-10 that’s all covered in jewels, and can you please put your titties closer to the 22’s? And where’s the champagne? We need champagne, now look as hard as ya can with this blunt in ya hand– and now hold up ya chain, slow-motion through the flames, now cue the smoke machines and the simulated rain…

Okay, it’s a pointlessly-long-winded article, so let me summarise it for you:

An anonymous person wrote about how, in 1991, he was part of a conspiracy group that made rap songs more violent so that there’d be more people being sent to private prisons.
And not at all anything to do with most rap singers coming from the American ghettos, where violence, drugs, etc. are a lot more common.

Totally legitimate you guys!

Rap, in terms of quality, works like pop music. In that songs of the genre have the potential to be really good… as long as they actually try to be good, and not just try to imitate everyone else (For rap, that’s non-singing poetry about showing off nothing over a looping beat. For pop, that’s repeating the same lines about love over and over again).
And, like pop, the problem is that the genuinely good songs aren’t “mainstream” enough, so they don’t get played on radio unless they’re really really good.

Seriously, if you want some examples of good rap, do a Youtube search for Duane And Brando.

There are good rap songs out there, and it’s not a bad genre overall if done correctly. The thing is, there are too many no-talent hacks out there who think they can do it. Too many people just dump a basic repeating beat down and talk over it like the micro machine man about stupid things while trying to act “bad ass” or “gangsta.” A good song has an interesting beat, meaningful lyrics, and can twist and play with words in ways that would make Dr. Sues proud. Bad rap just craps a boring 6 second looping beat and then rants about money, fame, and “bitches.”

You are lucky, at least you don’t have to bare with Reggaeton or however the shit is called.
Seriously, my neighbor has that shit on the entire time.

I tend to only like several rap groups, but I do really like Run DMC and a Tribe Named Quest.
In general, though… meh. More power to you, however, if you do like it.

I don’t demonize rap. I just think it’s dumb and is kind symbolic of a lot of things in the world that I don’t like.

But you know what? If you like rap, good for you. People have different tastes, and I’m sure some people could say the exact same statement as above in regards to the music that I like. Just don’t get offended if I put on some headphones when someone starts up a 50 Cent album.
