I look back at George Bush’s presidency, and I still feel like he was a more trustworthy president than Barack Obama. Have you seen the videos of how he handled September 11th as it happened? Does that illicit no sympathy? Obama just doesn’t feel the same. I don’t feel like he cares as much about leading the country as Bush did.

Hard to believe? Don’t you remember when the Defense Department awarded them a no-bid contract to “develop” the oil fields while that European company was screaming about it? That is how a post-industrial country secures natural resources–they use political and military power to get a host country to allow private corporations to extract a resource like oil. Often they will couch it as “creating jobs” for the host country. Then those companies will extract that resource for a fraction of what it is worth thanks to the cheap labor and low taxes, which said company will keep in place with bribes and litigation. Then, to assure the continued support of the First World country’s military, the company will export that resource relatively cheaply, thus ensuring that, even after the company takes its cut, the international market is furnished with a resource that costs far less than it is actually worth. It does not even need to go directly back to the post-industrial country; it just has to keep the cost of its goods low.

That is what Globalization is. Ever wonder what politicians mean when they say that the military is “protecting American interests” overseas? Wonder no more.

Nope. They just let Haliburton drill it all while forcing the price of petroleum down. How many of the OPEC nations do they have political leverage over now? Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen…

Ever wonder why petroleum costs about three times as much in Europe as it does in the United States?
