According to the image upload this was 10 months ago actually.
Also, let’s not forget the toy-line did kinda spoil some things like their “Rainbow-fied super forms,” and “Twilicorn.”
Also, the Season 5 character poster has the CMC “blacked out” which also seems to hint they may get their cutie-marks finally this season. I noticed in Season 4 the CMC episodes were far less cutie-mark focused.
@Background is Best Pony
The toys don’t really have enough of a storyline associated with them for “canon” to be relevant; if you wanted to be generous about it, I guess they could constitute the Toy Blurb Universe or something, like the Hostess Snack Cakes Spider-Man did before he got killed and eaten by Morlun. They certainly have nothing at all to do with the show or comics.
@Background Pony #782F
that theory
It’s also entirely possible it’s just a straight up magic box with a semi-permanent illusion that the player can move around, it just doesn’t seem terribly likely that there would be tech in it more advanced than things like the vacuum tubes and cameras we’ve already seen.
Just like how it was “HABBENING” like 2 years ago when their cutie marks appeared in some cook book?
It’s stock toy vector crap. Toys =/= show canon.
Consolidating the other replies to this comment, the previous “canon” CMC cutie marks were from fan art used to illustrate a recipe that was posted on the Hub website in anticipation of the S3 premiere. (IIRC, the artist of that art was an intern for Hasbro or DHX at the time, but had actually drawn the artwork before she was hired.)
Anyway, what I find potentially interesting is that, with 9 out of 12 slots in this line filled by the Mane 6 and the CMC, they skipped over the remaining 3 princesses and Derpy and instead chose Trixie, Lyra Heartstrings, and Bon Bon Sweetie Drops. That strikes me as a more likely S5 spoiler than the CMC cutie marks. (“More likely” in the sense that 10% is greater than 1%, but still…)
We never saw the inside of the cabinet, though; it was almost certainly a mechanical game like pachinko or pinball, or those archaic racing games where the track was a long reel of paper or film, any of which would be in keeping with the variable Renaissance-to-Early-20th-Century tech level.
I really like that theory; I just wish I could believe it.

Good thing you’re Too Cool For School, then, it sure would suck to participate with anyone having fun in this fandom or anything.
@Background Pony #68FB
Actually, the post on EqD is treating it more like a “Is this going to be legit or not? We shall soon seeeee~” scenario. So they aren’t saying it’s a straight-up spoiler.
@Background Pony #68FB@Beau Skunky Good point. Ah, but I’m sure Scootaloo has a better future ahead of her than what is displayed on her flank here. Still, G3 will be G3. And she is a free spirit, much like her sempai!
@Mellow91
Don’t get me wrong, as the apple-heart is kinda cute, so I’m not bothered even if these do become their official cutie-marks. Maybe the butterfly symbolizes Scootaloo’s “free spirit,” and desire to “soar to new heights.”
Yeah, true. The technology they have in Equestria is already confusing as it is. (Heck, they had arcade machines in one ep’.)
@Beau Skunky
Applebloom’s CM doesn’t bother me here. Although I do like your idea better!
I do realize that this may not be canon, as well.
And holy Celestia, think of all the hard work Applejack could get done with a truck!
…
Well, I guess it would kind of spoil the whole “rustic/schizo-tech” charm of the Equestria universe though.
@Mellow91
And yet, you’re not bothered that they could’ve given Apple Bloom an “apple flower bloom” as a cutie-mark? (Would be a bit more unique then a half-heart-apple. Though, it’s still cute.) Sweetie’s G3 cutie-mark works well for her though.
Also, keep in mind these are probably not finalized, and also the show doesn’t always follow the merchandise. Otherwise, we would’ve seen Applejack’s truck in the show. (Actually, that would be cool.)
The person that took the photo didn’t overlay them well enough, there’s only on RD in the center.

So you never know.
Looking at something that was seen almost three years ago and shitting myself thinking it’s a S5 spoiler is not my idea of fun, no.

You’re over a week late with that joke, and on the wrong image: >>764922
Trixie, Lyra Heartstrings, and
Bon BonSweetie DropsI was wondering if anyone else thought that was suspicious, especially given the hints we’ve had that there’s going to be a Background Pony episode.

Which store has these things
Google suggests they are not yet available.
Not unlike what some of us are shouting in this thread, ironically or not.
Ah, well then…

Same thing. They’re suggesting that it could be S5 spoilers, when it’s not.
And the comments are taking the bait and shitting themselves over “OMG S5 SPOILERZZZZZ”.

Aaaaand they’re hyping it up as “OMG S5 SPOILERZZZ!!!”.
Ugh.
IIRC, “stylized butterfly” was her cutie mark in G3. That’s probably what Hasbro is basing it on, here.
