Pretty much all of those things you mention about Christmas though are more vaguely “winter holiday” traditions and imagery for a lot of people, Christian or not, religious or not, or heck even atheist or not, and definitely none of them have anything to do with the miraculous virgin birth of the savior and all that. Hearth’s Warming is all about how the tribes came together which (again) has nothing to do with Christmas. And again, “Nightmare Night” and “Hearts and Hooves Day” are actual canon Equestrian holidays, but you’d be inventing a pony “Hannukah” completely with no basis for it. Those situations are completely different.

Yet, it involves decorating trees, candy canes, hanging lights on houses, takes place in winter/snowy time, and such… We can have “Pony Christmas,” “Pony Halloween,” and “Pony Valentines,” but it seems a li’l unfair to say we can’t imagine a “Pony Hanukkah.”
 
I understand how you feel about not wanting to “mix ponies & religion,” and I kinda agree, but this is overall a pretty harmless pic, and I think it’s cute, even though I’m not Jewish personally. (Though, my Mother said we have Jewish/semitic ancestry on her side.)

I never said we should pretend that. I said I think it’s better we keep them out of pony. If they have been shown to exist in pony that’d be another story, but they haven’t. Same with a “pony version of Hanukkah”… I think it’s even more PC as you say to try to invent that when we have no reason to assume it exists, or needs to, it’s not like Hearth’s Warming is really like Christmas.
 
On that note if it’s easier for you you can substitute or include cultural traditions that are based on religious practices for what I summed up as “religion” in my comments, if you want, so you don’t have to keep clarifying that point. I meant it as the same thing or pretty much the same way really, I didn’t realize I needed to be more specific.

The ironic thing is, alot of people who get bent about “religious holidays” forget all of our holidays at some point were religious. Even “April Fool’s Day” was a Pagan holiday originally. (In fact, so were many other holidays.)

Well, you could argue perhaps they have a similar holiday to Hanukkah much like how Hearth’s Warming is like “Christmas.” They have some parallels to the real world.

Even so, it’s not like we can just pretend religion, or real holidays don’t exist. I think you’re being to touchy on the subject… Besides, as I said above, they could have a pony-equivilent to Hanukkah like how “Hearth’s Warming” is for Christmas for all we know.
 
Also, even some non-religious people of Jewish-decent celebrate Hanukkah, as also stated.

I think you misinterpreted the “SJW tumblr” part of my comment you quoted. I’m not saying that I want Pixelkitties to represent other religions like that in this picture, or even in a series of pictures, or any other artist to do the same, as I said I prefer artists stay away from bringing real world religions at all so that it doesn’t need to get to that point from anyone’s perspective.
 
At the very least I think it’s better not to make or imply any existing characters (especially main characters) as belonging to a specific religion because again, it just starts drawing lines in the eyes of many people. Like Seraphim Dawn said religion is a touchy subject. You can see people commenting on it on the deviantart thread for this pic too… I just think it’s better to avoid the subject altogether, even if it’s meant to be harmless, or for laughs or whatever.

I understand that, and sometimes I feel the same way about “mixing ponies with IRL religions,” but this is just a harmless holiday pic overall, nothing to get so bent over.  
As I said it’s nice to see some regard for Hanukkah, and our Jewish bronies/fans out there, with all the Christmas, and Hearth’s Warming pics out there.

I don’t see any point in representing say Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, or Volcano-worshipper, and such in one “Hanukkah” pic… You sound a li’l to P.C., no offense.  
But yeah, I do admit alot of Tumblr folk tend to go overboard with one religion, and don’t represent others.  
PixelKitties is not an SJW however, and quite the opposite, in fact. This isn’t meant to be promoting one religion over the others, or trying to be randomly P.C., or “diverse,” this is just a pic paying homage to an IRL holiday.
