Good point.
No, closer to detectives of the Adeptus Abites. The grey knights are a primarily combat force, where SMILE are an investigative unit first and would then call in FROWN (oh man these puns hurt) to get stuck in with the magic beams and lassos.
But the Council of friendship also doesn’t fit the primarily combat roll of the grey knight space marines either, however they do very nicely fit into the roll of an Inquisitor and retinue.

BFG has a free to find online “living rulebook” now that it isn’t officially supported by GW currently, basically it consists of a series of QnAs and rules changes that were released in White Dwarf, or other GW publications.
I must admit, I have played Battle Fleet Gothic in the past. Still have 3 small fleets in an old tool box in my parent’s attic. (Imperial, Chaos and Eldar). Never really got in to it. It didn’t help that my regular opponent at the time was one of those ‘win at any cost’ players, who also happened to own the rule book, which I never did have.
Yeah, he was never much fun to play against to be honest. Even if he was the guy who got me interested in 40k in the first place.
He gained the questionable honor of the title ‘Lord Loophole’.
He’d spend 2-3 days reading and re-reading new rulebooks trying to find rules that could be ‘misinterpreted’, or conveniently forgotten if they didn’t give him an edge.
Speaking of rules, any of you use any ‘house rules’ in your own games?
Any game I’m taking point on, the following house rules usually apply:-
This rule is really for horde armies where casualties from the front lines can prevent them charging.
If they rally, they regroup, but cannot move or shoot that turn. They fight normally if assaulted.
If everyone involved uses the same rules, the game works regardless.
Apologies for the lengthy message here.
To be honest, I usually find painting the models a chore, (although there are some I’ve enjoyed doing, such as those pony themed rhinos).
My real enjoyment comes from when I field a new model and get other players commenting on them.
Or copying what I’ve done…..
I actually started playing 40k 18 years ago, and I was out of school then.
Yeah, I’m one of the older ones here.
I can remember being able to buy a rhino for £10 off the shelf.
Of course, that was the old version.
Box set of 5 marines new in the box for £5 anyone?
Again, they were the old version though. Nowhere near as customiseable as the newer kits.
Pretty good, although a little more shading on her eyes may have been better.
(Darken them a bit at the top and fade it lighter as you work down the eye).
The tank itself is still better painted than my own force.
My own current project should hopefully be ready for weekend (assuming I don’t run out of black paint).
Chrysalis themed warhound titan.
I’ll post a pic of that when it’s done.

I have been known to buy from GW, although I don’t buy anywhere near as much as I used to. The prices now are ridiculous.
I’d like to get ‘The Dazzlings’ from Rainbow Rocks represented in my own force at some point, although I’d definitely use ‘ponified’ versions of them. No idea what to use to get them in though. Vehicles would be better due to panels I can put images on.
I’ll probably end up doing them on Rhinos.
I can always swap and change transports.
When I first started playing GW stuff AAAAAEEEGGGGGGIIIIISISS ago, all the veterens were leaving because of the price hikes. I left a few years later for the same reason. I can buy an airsoft gun and a few games for the price of a 40k army.
Then a few years after that I overheard some other people complaining about how the prices have gone up again and again.
I’m not surprised the way they jacked up all the prices.
Nobody buys from Games Workshop directly, they reported something like 40% drop in income this year.
