Alright this comic sucks. But can we not all go full rage mode on Twilight? She’s awfully written here, but what about the other comics (e.g. recently the ff issue with Pinkie was fun) and of course the show itself.
That bottom right frame alone would undo Part One.
They had no problems with casual violence against the bulls in their call-ahead cameo a few issues prior, then they got hung up on how they shouldn’t use force, then they engineer a reason to use (some) force to bring a resolution.
And has others have pointed out, the justification is the bulls performing criminal acts… after the Mane Six employed illegal actions to get there… after watching the bulls performing criminal acts.
Congratulations writers, in your efforts to not make Twilight Sparkle ruin your plot with her powerful magic, you made Twilight Sparkle wreck the storytelling with convoluted - if not contradictory - reasoning and inconsistent ethics.
Even if this is a youth’s comic, it shouldn’t leave you feeling so darn confused after the fact.

You know, I hated the Reflections arc a lot, but Celestia’s OOCness didn’t quite make me as mad as other people. Not that I was okay with it, just that I’m not a big fan of her to begin with, so it didn’t really bother me too much. However, seeing Katie’s handling of Twilight {One of my favorite characters} in the past 2 issues, I now fully understand your hate for what that story did to Celestia.

Personally I hate Reflections more, but that’s just because I am a hardcore Celestia fan. If I wasn’t, I’d probably hate this arc more.

Well, Twilight can still send a document to be approved by her, so clearly she can still communicate with her. Unless she falsified her signature, which is not only another crime that they commited, but also redundant, since she’s a Princess and could sign this shit herself.

And if she could always contact Celestia, why didn’t she just request for assistance? Ask for her to sent a detachment of guards to take care of the bandits! Yeah, they’re tough, but you can’t really out-muscle a spear stabbing you in the lungs.

What’s weird is that she still got Celestia to help. Shouldn’t Twilight be able to notarize anything she wanted? She’s a princess isn’t she? This feels like Princess Twilight pretending to be regular unicorn Twilight.
If they did that, Twilight would never appear as a character.
The writers fucked up to begin with when they made her a princess. Now they have to make her “hold back” for there to be any conflict, since she can technically always take the easy way out and have her use her magic and/or status.
Oh my God. I haven’t read a single page of this comic and this part alone already tells me that this is terrible. Twilight would not abide the law. She would wipe the floor with them in an instant. If she’s too OP for the story, then just write her out of the story!
So let me get this straight.
the bulls terrorizing the town,injuring and robbing ponies(Assault,damaging public property and theft) wasn’t enough to justify using magic on them.
