Funny thing, Nintendo were the ones who made fun of Birdo’s gender a few times.
I heard a particular joke in Sonic for Hire Season 2 XD
Some Mario-fans like to make jokes about that actually.
@Beau Skunky
I just thought of Birdo as a transexual
To be fair, Birdo in the “Super Mario Advance” remake of SMB2 had a very clearly female voice, but yeah I just consider Birdo just “female” overall, or perhaps like Yoshis with no real defining “gender.”
Actually, Birdo is a different story. Nintendo pretty much retcon that whole, “Birdo is a man who wants to be a girl” some time ago. I honestly didn’t think retconing was necessary, Nintendo could have easily just say Birdo is both a male and female species.
Personally, I believe the Birdo’s in SMB2 are males, but the current pink Birdo that appears in the spinoffs is different and female. Even the Birdo in the Japan only “Captain Rainbow” has been implied to be female due to a specific mission.
Kinda like Birdo, eh?
I’ve read comments from some people that read the translated Japanese script, and they always claimed that in the letter Goombella used words like “she” and “her” when the topic was about Vivian. I even read the ending script myself.
I guess whatever source that didn’t mention this probably weren’t aware or pass it off as translation error because of the large amount of evidences stating otherwise. Some people say its because Vivian’s sister, Beldam, was being a major jerkass.
Vivian’s gender, for the best, shall be left to peoples own opinion.
Hoers kisses!
@SuperDEF
Really? I didn’t know that about the ending. All the sources that said Vivian was “male” in the Japanese version, never mentioned that.
I honestly don’t even know anymore myself. A lot of people went through the Japanese’s version of the games scripted dialogue and it confirmed that Vivian is male, BUT at the end of the game (and maybe mentioned once at a rare moment earlier) in Goombella’s letter to Mario she claimed Vivian as a ‘she’, somewhat completely finalizing Vivian’s gender.
I guess its just best to leave that everyone’s own opinion.
@Beau Skunky
Little did Sonic knows, Chillela…
Was Chillzalee’s twin sister!!
Nah, Blaze is a strong, independent kitty who don’t need no hedgehog that isn’t Silver.
I ship him with Blaze, myself
We do not speak of that game! (J/K) Funny thing is, she has the same name as my mother.
Who knows? When you get down to it, Sonic’s had alot of potential girlfriends over the many different Sonic canons/continuities/universes (within the games, comics, cartoons, ect.) he even had a few girls digging him in the crazy AoStH cartoon. In fact, some Sonic fans fight over who Sonic should be with. (Either Amy, or Sally usually.)
Wonder if it was the same with Elise
I actually have that hilarious (and slightly disturbing) pic faved on DA. lol. :P
And apparently, Mario was more successful with non-humans than Sonic was with humans…
I just thought that had to do with her hag of an older sister being an ass to her.
Troo. :P Apparently, Mario is popular with the laaaaaaadies… Even non-human ones. (Miss Mowz in particular seemed to have the hawts for him.)
Though, I hear Vivian is actually male (despite looking quite female) in Japan.
To quote the Penguin, is it tragic irony, or poetic justice?
