I’m getting a Digimon S2 feel from this where the mane 6 goes adventuring and they meet new ponies and in the end of the season they’ll fight a villian(Probably Starlight Glimmer) The Mane 6 gets defeated and the new ponies must somehow step up to the challenge of being the bearers

Tinfoil theory time: at some point near season’s end, these ex-equalist village pones (plus a couple cohorts from S4) get a fetch-quest to the Tree of Harmony(C) & become the next batch o’ Element bearers. Feel free to start chucking the rotten fruit.
