The text of >>588493 is exactly what the Hub posted, but the image was initially of Granny Smith from “Leap of Faith”. (I think >>587902 was the image they posted with the tweet, but I’m not sure; I don’t recall the text being on the bottom of the image when they tweeted it.) CR, being CR, swapped in that pic of Lauren Faust.
@Itsthinking
I suspect >>924860 is laced with some sarcasm, but I could be wrong. Nick hasn’t given me much reason to think poorly of him, and I’ve enjoyed some of his work so far. >>588493 I wasn’t aware was an edit; I thought The Hub actually tweeted that by accident, and people ran with it. I cited it because I found it while looking for tweets and thought it was funny, not to prove a point.
Breckel I’ve appreciated for sticking up for bronies, while sometimes trying to mollify the situation between them and the staff. This instance with Miller is one of her less thoughtful attempts, to put it mildly. And rest assured, I don’t want to be hard on Jim, but I don’t care for his attitude in this case. It carries an angry and somewhat petulant undertone, which is just asking for it. I understand if he’s just blowing off steam, and he’s welcome to it. That’s partly what Twitter’s for, I think.
@Background Pony #8C4F
Again, I think it was the IDW staff jumping to the support of Jim Miller, but Miller later defended himself. I’m not so sure about >>924860. It’s really weird and I don’t know what to think about it.
@Background Pony #C71B >>924860 doesn’t really strike me as a joke; it’s more of an “I feel your pain, but it’ll get better.” >>921865 is a classic, and >>729015 is almost as good; citing those definitely gives me a better impression of you. >>588493 is Chad Rocco’s edit of a badly-worded promo tweet from the Hub; not sure why you’re citing it.
The initial tweet in >>555002 is apparently a joke as well, one that M. A. Larson played along with, but it’s still a good example. (It’s also an image that I uploaded, oddly enough.)
So I still think you’re being too hard on Jim Miller (and maybe Heather Breckel) here, but I can appreciate it’s a simple difference of opinion, and you’re not like someone like Murrison, always interpreting the staff’s words in the worst possible manner.
@Background Pony #8C4F
This one may be construed as a good-natured joke, though it barely counts: >>924860
Hard not to appreciate the joke in this instance: >>921865
Ishi Rudell handled this one well: >>729015
Nobody jokes as based as The Hub (RIP): >>588493
And, of course, M.A. Larson: >>555002
@Background Pony #C71B
Let’s make this simple: What was a time when someone from the show or comic responded to an angry/upset fan with a joke that you approved of?
@Background Pony #61C0
So they’re supposed to always take the utmost care that whatever they say shouldn’t upset any of their fans, yet the fans get to use whatever insults and attacks they want?
No, but that should go without saying. Not everyone who’s dissatisfied with the show is hurling insults at them on Twitter, but you could easily imply harassment for anything these days and a legion of white knights will come defend you.
@Itsthinking
Jim Miller has repeatedly and consistently said it’s OK if people don’t like certain episodes or certain aspects of some episodes. Heather Breckel has more than once defended bronies. That doesn’t earn them any benefit of the doubt when reading this exchange?
Not when they’re being passive-aggressive about it. I don’t buy that Jim was just “joking”, and he wouldn’t get a pass for it either if he was. He was already in a bad mood from the last time he talked to Murrison. Breckel’s defended bronies before, but in this case, she was just being bitchy along with Miller.
@Jarkes
Unfortunately it was the only good. The thing that was upsetting about this exchange is that IDW staff was telling him to be overly defensive and criticizing fans for legitimate complaints.
Eh, it didn’t really feel that way on my part. Plus, hey, we got to hear Jim’s personal thoughts about Spike and possible hints about future things regarding Spike, so at least some good came out of this mess (which is something you brought up in the immediate aftermath of the whole thing).

Honestly, sometimes people do seem to act like IDW is one of the worst evils in the world, though I find stuff like @Background Pony #278F to be just as annoying.
Yeah, if all that stuff about people being upset didn’t happen, a bad episode wouldn’t have had any payoff.

Well, at least it got the right people mad enough to bring it to some kind of good conclusion.
Nick did make a “Jet fuel can’t melt steel beems” joke. I think he might have been serious with that one though.
He was blowing off steam, yes. But it was a bad way to approach it.

Honestly I think it was two different schools of thought towards criticism going head to head.

So your answer to my question is “no”.
Nah, it got to the point where it seemed more like damage control rather than joking.
At least you recognize that it WAS all joking on their part, even if you didn’t necessarily find it funny…
Again, they didn’t stop after one thing which made the joking seem less funny.
So they’re supposed to always take the utmost care that whatever they say shouldn’t upset any of their fans, yet the fans get to use whatever insults and attacks they want?

Personally, I can’t stand either 4chan or 8chan, but I don’t endlessly bitch about it. I occasionally bitch about it, sure, but not endlessly.
Hey, I happen to know 8chan is much worse! Why doesn’t he talk about them?
It may also be the same guy who won’t shut up about how terrible 4chan is.
He’s got something against me in particular.
Honestly, sometimes people do seem to act like IDW is one of the worst evils in the world, though I find stuff like
@Background Pony #278F to be just as annoying.
Typical.
A misleading and irrelevant accusation.
