Maybe, because in this alternate timeline there won’t be anyone like the mane 6 to use the elements, Celestia is still able to use them in some way. However they might not be as powerful if she uses them again on their own. If you look closely at this Solar Flare card, you could see she’s wearing the alicorn amulet. Perhaps she used it as extra powerboost for the elements to defeat NMM (and other villains) but with the result of her becoming more corrupt as time passes.
 
This is not a given, I’m only speculating of course. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for the finale to come around.

But who said that Celestia wouldn’t have gone down fighting if she hadn’t had her faithful student? The question is rather, would the Elements still work for Celestia after all this time? And would Nightmare Moon fall for it again? Or would she be more cautious about it?

Sorry, but this whole “Mane Six is easily replaceable by any another Six beings” idea is so beaten to death at this point. Lunaverse, Manehattenverse, Stallionverse, anythingverseverse, etc, etc. I prefer version where they aren’t that easily replaceable.

When there is an alternative timeline, spike may never have hatched. Either that, or to someone completely different. Or someone had a big dragon-egg omelette.
 
But the idea of alternate history if there never was a Sonic Rainboom and non of them discovered what their Special Talent was, or discovered other Cutie Marks is very interesting. It is most likely that Nightmare Moon would have taken over Equestria. And was later split up in different Regions when the other villains showed up. At least Discord, Sombra and Queen Chrysalis should have showed up at some point and would terrorize different parts of Equestria.  
Maybe even Tirek, but we don’t know the exact reason why Cerberus abandoned his post at tartarus.  
That actually would be an interesting idea for a movie. Or at least a four part episode.
 
At the moment we have to wait and see if history will be altered by Starlight Glimmer. It is clear she has something planned, and that it has to do with the Cutie Marks of the mane 6. But I am not so sure about the timetravel thing yet.

Actually there won’t be any season 6 I think… Remember how recently Hasbro tweeted it wrong as if season 6 was going to start and then they apologized and corrected it to the second half of season 5. The thing is that season 6 was hinted officially only once or twice the way it could be the same thing: they just meant the second half of season 5. It would explain everything and make a lot of sense: after finishign season 5 in the beginning of 2016 there would be a gap, and then 2017 movie will come. Probably finishing Generation 5.

Well they probably still work on Equestria Girls 3 as well. And those clips are from episodes which will air a good time after that, at the end of the year, when no even in January.

I really hope the fact they are only showing animatics doesn’t mean that S5 is STILL animating, cause that would point to a really long gap between 5 and 6.
