After much online research on the “running to school with toast in your mouth” that I mentioned…I can conclude that it’s so uncommon that doing so in Japan makes you look like an idiot.
Or a baka.
I’m gonna call my coworkers “baka”. They don’t know Japanese, so I think I can get away with it.
@ShimmeringStallion
If that’s the case…do Japanese students REALLY eat nothing but a slice of toast on their way to school? Toast isn’t going to fill you up very well until lunch…believe me, I’ve tried.
@HighRollerHydra
Well I have no dating experience, or socializing experience, so I’m inclined to agree with never meeting someone with a dere-personality… then again, they’re meant to be very overplayed for the sake of animated shows.
@ShimmeringStallion
Not once did I ever meet a “dere” in my schools. Even the cheerleaders were super-nice, and I never got attacked during my freshman year. (I just got sick of going to football games, where my sister is in the marching band…she plays the saxophone, though she hasn’t since she graduated in 2005)
@ShimmeringStallion
That’s why I don’t think tsunderes or yanderes or picklederes (made that up) are that funny…well, maybe that last one could be. The pickle one.
@HighRollerHydra
I love the tsundere stereotype; when properly performed, it takes a WHILE to break through, meaning stories can take a long time with it. It also has much more variety to it compared to the others… particularly Yandere and Deredere.
