There are several reasons, most of which would be a bit too hard to explain for me to attempt even trying.
 
But I can tell you the easiest one - imagine the air currents and how they would interfere with the cutie mark during the flight if it were to protrude or completely replace the pony. As it is right now, there is a huge gap in the middle, not to mention the shape of the entire thing would collect the air and create huge air resistance. Remember, this cutie mark is supposed to signify unprecedented physical speed and agility of the wearer… Well, that and resolve of the host to take on any challenge and come on top if her friends or loved ones are involved. With her cutie mark reversed, it just doesn’t work as well as if it was properly aligned.

Just use the MLP Wikipedia next time. I think even the show itself made this error in a few episodes. I just hate it when her CM is reversed since IMO it completely ruins the symbolic message.

With dash I never really mind if the lightnin’ bolt is bakkerds, since that way it follows the curve of her rump and actually looks better from any angle that isn’t directly broadside.
