alas… the cries for punishment are directed to Dashie due to her lack of remorse for said actions. Dashie is never sorry.
I love Rainbow Dash more than anything but she should be punished!
Twilight made everypony that saw the smartypants doll beat each other up by casting the want-it need-it spell on it and got away without punishment yet I don’t hear you saying ‘I cannot believe she gets away with this stuff’. Also, Celestia didn’t need to intervene in Rainbow Dash’s two cases, did she? Whereas she did in Twilight’s case as the ponies that saw the doll would have probably ended up killing each other over it. And lets not forget about Starlight Glimmer, a mare who’s actions caused genocide, pain, suffering and the doom of Equestria itself. Tell me, where are your calls for punishment for those mares? Surely they deserve it more than Rainbow Dash, considering Rainbow Dash only effected a book and factory, whereas Twilight and Glimmer effected ponies lives? Or do you consider a factory and a book holding more importance than lives themselves?
She must get a lot of mulligans.

Twilight offered her copy to Rainbow Dash at the end of the episode. The one Dash stole came from the hospital book cart.

I’m pretty sure that specific copy of the book belonged to the hospital.
It was Twilight’s but she was borrowing it even if she wasn’t going to read it she still needed to get it back so she could return it.
It wasn’t her book.
To be fair she just went back to get her book she didn’t really commit a crime the nurses and doctors just overreacted.
Or breaking into a hospital!
I think her mishap at the weather factory finally caught up with her.
