I gather. I just wanted to point those out in case the new tag gets approved and they were relevant to any image that would get that new tag.

THANK YOU to whoever decided to finally implement the often-suggested custom color tag for canon character names. It seemed off that OCs got their own dedicated color, while canon characters got to wallow in the sea of every other normal (green) tag.
 
There’s been more than one occasion where someone’s done some highly-stylized or very off-character model version of a canon character in with other OCs, and I had to scan the entire tag section (sometimes very large) to see if it was an OC donut steel or actually supposed to be a canon character.

Be sure to thank LightningBolt as well, as she’s been going around categorizing all these tags by hand so that they’re the proper color.

Yeah, the episode color jumped out at me just a few minutes ago. Thanks to both for the new additions!
 
One thing, I noticed Princess Twilight is still green. I assume this is just an oversight so far?

It’s more of a “tags have to categorized one-by-one and a single person is doing all of them, so she probably just hasn’t gotten to it yet” kinda thing

I’m really enjoying all these new tag colors. MY EYES ARE FULL OF RAINBOW

That’s what I mean by oversight really, that it just hadn’t been gotten to yet. I appreciate the amount of work categorizing all the canon characters is, then all the episode titles to boot.

I skipped any ‘descriptor’ character tags for now as they all imply who the character is, this includes nicknames and rule 63 names. This rule may change in the future, but for now, this is how it is.
 
Princess Twilight implies Twilight Sparkle so that is why Princess Twilight is still green. :P

Makes sense. I didn’t expect any of the other (unofficial) descriptor tags to be highlighted, but since Princess Twilight is an official title, I thought it would be as well. No worries. I’m just happy we’ve got a canon tag color now.

Hey, my comic series have tags that were created before the whole “comic:name of comic” format really became a thing.  
Should I change them so that they fit that format?

Since it’s your series, that’s pretty much up to you. If you want, you can change them all manually, but there might be an easier way assuming there are no other images that use the same name as your comics. What’s the tag’s name?

Well I’m talking about multiple tags.  
They are:  
trixie enemy of  
trixie enemy of a rare situation (Which I count as a distinct part of the above.)  
watermelody’s campaign  
&  
the return of sunset shimmer (comic)

Radiant Hope is still a generic tag.

I know like zero comic characters, so odd are most of them are still generic.

Can I get some advice? I know it may be in this thread, but I kinda don’t want to go thru 60+ pages to see if it is. But should I be tagging species? I.e. pegasus/unicorn/earth pony? Each tag has a butt ton under it, and I’ve been using them again lately, but I’ve noticed they seem to be contentious with random removals and readditions. And now I’ve had a BP remove them from an image I put them on.
 
Before I start slapping them back on images they’ve been yanked from, I just wanted to see what the official word is here. I’d think logically they’d be appropriate.

As a rule, we don’t tag species on canon characters, like, we know Rainbow Dash is a pegasus, so we don’t tag her as such, and Thorax is a changeling, but we don’t tag him as such. They apply fine to OCs tho.
 
it’s a bit fuzzy and confusing, yes, but no one is gonna care if you simply skip them..

Alright, I’ll skip them on canon characters, but put them on OCs.

A fair amount of background EqG characters (and a few less minor ones, actually) are still like that as well. I’ll link the ones I can find, but a browse through the background human tag might be a decent idea.

…okay, that turned out to be a lot longer than I’d meant it to. And it’s nowhere near complete, either. There just a whole universe worth of obscure characters hiding out there.

Just letting you know, @LightningBolt has already stated that precise descriptor tags such as Principal Celestia and Dean Cadance are intentionally being skipped, as they merely denote an alternate version of a pre-existing character and already imply that character’s tag.

Oh, alright. I figured they weren’t doing rule 63 names, but I didn’t realize they were skipping those. I thought they would count as separate characters. Thanks for the heads up.
