I am in favor of getting rid of the downvote.
 
I am also in favor of the compromise of making votes public. Fuck anonymity.
 
I am not in favor of maintaining the status quo. Something needs to change.

There’s a question on the form that says:
 
Should artists be able to disable the display of downvote counts - for all users - on images they are tagged the artist of?
 
I thought part of the point was helping artist tell if people like their images or not, and if not, why they don’t like them.
 
Hiding the downvotes goes against that, doesn’t it? Like, it’s just giving the artist the option to artificially inflate their scores to make themselves feel better. There’s no good reason for this.

Honestly i prefer ‘hide button’ than downvote, because some users abuse of downvote and not always is productive as critique (at leasts for artistic pics).
 
Although downvote can be optional too, but i prefer hide a pic sometimes

You have no idea how voting work, do you? No one gives feedback when they click the downward arrow, they just say “I don’t like this” and leave the uploader to decide the “why,” and for good images that don’t deserve an overall negative score, that does more harm than good.

It’s a question in a poll, there is no right answer and we’re not leading towards people giving one over the other. The person that built the poll tried to be as exhaustive as possible with possible interactions and behaviours, regardless of how obvious or obtuse they may seem to some.

Someone likes/dislikes an image and votes accordingly.
 
Downvoting only “harms” the score of an image.

I feel like the removal of downvotes would not only encourage lazy artistry and artists flooding the site with lazy arse edits of other users images but also encourage users to just troll a different way through spamming likes on trashwork. Forcing users to comment in order to downvote just further enhances the issue of how hard it is for artists to get actual feedback without burner accounts spamming the comments with “this suk” so that they can downvotes. I say if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it in the case of the current system since it has a manageable amount of bad to it.

You can just report the image you uploaded to be deleted.

Well, if someone goes out of their way to spam “this sucks”, then the people can at least report them and have them banned.
 
Downvoting is something that should be seldom used, if at all. If it isn’t an obvious trollpost or low quality shitpost, you are probably better off just using filters instead.

There’s already a HIDE option for this site.  
So I think that keeping the Downvote should stay, but there should be a set of regulations on how downvotes should be used.  
Or better yet, ***WHY NOT JUST USE A CUSTOMIZED FILTER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!?***

There isn’t a hide option like they are talking about, if you don’t want to see just this or that image and not hide all with a shared tag, then you would have to put in the filter a long ass complex setting that would likely block more then the one image and include ones you don’t want to hide.

Downvote. Short sweet and gets the point across.

If you’ll ever decide to remove downvotes completely again, please don’t remove already existing negative ratings for old pictures. It’ll affect some filters.

There is the option of using the id:[insert picture id here] to hide the picture, namely, placing it into the complex hide fliter.

If you click on a tag, there are 3 options that you can choose to either watch, hide, or spoiler it.

because there are some artwork that a lot of people have worked hard on but instead get negative reactions. My human Big Mac picture has a negative score and my realistic drawing of my ponysona lying down on the bed also has a negative score and yet, I’ve worked pretty hard on those. It’s understandable when the art is really badly drawn but my art isn’t like those kind of images.

Hiding an image like this hide feature is about is not the same as hiding a tag.

Didn’t know it could work that way, but still a hide button is faster and easier to see.

To be honest, if we do get the hide option back, I’d like to see it work like that where, if you hit the aforementioned button, it puts the picture ID into that filter. Not too sure how tough that would be to code the button to work like that, however.
