I tried: Derpibooru iOS app

So, about a year ago I made a post about making an iOS client for the website here . I have been working on it on and off during these times, and I have submitted a working version to the App Store for review 2 days ago.
 
Unfortunately, yet expectedly, it is rejected by the App Store for: being a misleading association with Derpibooru, and that the functionality too minimal - no more different from the mobile website. (if you’re interested, guideline 4.1 and 4.2.2)
 
While the first reason may be resolved if admins want to green light this app and claim ownership of it, I’m not sure if the second rejection reason will go away soon. I have plans to add in posting, rating, commenting and profile management down the line, but those are far down the line and still may not guarantee being approved by Apple.
 
While I’m totally disheartened, devastated and in denial right now, I don’t think I’ll be resubmitting the app soon. I will still be working on it because I enjoy using it myself, but in the meantime, it’ll exist as a GitHub project for the near future. But that means anyone who wants to try it out will have to build the Xcode project on their own – which requires a Mac.
 
I still want to work on the app for the site in some form. Maybe I’ll look into an Android version, since for me a side load APK is an OK compromise. I have been looking into DeliciousBlackInk’s abandoned project for some time actually, but since I have only briefly played with the Android SDK like 2 year ago, I’m not sure if I’m up to the task of maintaining it. But maybe I could try. I don’t know yet.

While we appreciate the effort made, the best we can do is recommend you maintain it as an unofficial app, as we want nothing to do with any mobile app store.
 
The Play Store, which is generally far more lenient about acceptable content, gave a former unofficial app the boot for supposed content violations, and it is more than likely that the App Store will be even more stringent about what is and is not allowed to be displayed to sheeple people.

If you can get your hands on an iOS 9 jailbreak-able device, I’d say hosting the .ipa on a repo for Cydia. No approval necessary, and I believe it can just be hosted off of GitHub with a GitHub page. I’d recommend visiting canijailbreak.com to figure if a device can be jailbroken, and saurik.com/id/7 for an in-depth how-to on hosting a Cydia repo.
 
You don’t need a jailbroken device to do this, but there are on-device tools to make development and such easier if you do.

Nicely done! Yours got a lot farther along than mine, LOL. I started it almost 2 years ago and never finished. 😅
 
 
The main page is… functional? Definitely rough.
 
 
And this overlay for tags and metadata doesn’t seem to be dismissible… must not have gotten around to that. It’s been so long that I can’t say for sure. 😆
 
If you want any help on yours, though, I’d love to work on yours instead of mine, because yours is so much farther along!
