Today a pic got uploaded that showed a lyra drawn on public bench with a permanent marker. and the uploader was even kinda celebrating it that he did that act. and everyone else is ok with that? and even deleting my comment that it was an overreaction and that I should take my own advise to get my life together?? what the heck? vandalism is a crime. reporting crimes is simply not an overreaction. it is common sense. it should be common sense. and someone should NOT be critisize for reporting and flag this kind of bad behaviour onto the community. what kind of message should i get from this? screw laws and shit. just shut up and enjoy pony. no matter if it is a crime or not? i am really confused right now about the rules and the moral standards of this site. and i am really disappointed.

Your comment was deleted because personally attacking others on this site is against our rules. You weren’t "reporting crimes" – and no matter how you try to spin what you did you have no moral high ground in this situation.

and what about submitting RL crimes here? that is still totally cool or what? encourage that kind of shit is bad. and i am really sorry. but people making RL crimes are simply horrible persons. damaging others property is just bad. and white knighting that is bad too. so i really dont know what is going on here. people who commit crimes > people flagging those bad people. and calling someone horrible isnt really the worst thing to say here to be honest. that is not really a attack. how else would you call this? come one. be serious.

Committing crimes is wrong. People shouldn’t do that.

Personally attacking people is also wrong. Please stop doing that.

No one is white knighting anything. Nothing is being "encouraged". The only thing I’m telling you is that your comment was NOT deleted for "standing up for law and order", and you should stop pretending that was why it was deleted.

Stop pretending that your comment being deleted is some sort of endorsement of that image.

Last I checked, presenting evidence of a crime does not constitute endorsement of criminal activity.

I think it’s a question of degrees between the "crime" and the "reaction". Yeah, tagging or scribbling on other’s property is not to be encouraged, for sure. But going nuclear on the guy for this isn’t really in the bounds of reason in my opinion. Your comment would not have been removed if you hadn’t gone full-metal-jacket on the guy. If the guy had defaced a monument or something along those lines, it would be another discussion.

As for the image itself… Yeah, it’s shitty behavior, but it’s also an artistic expression, something we usually try to preserve on the site. Not trying to say the guy is Banksy or anything, but still, worth something.

Hope that satisfies you.

there is no difference between vandalize a monument or something else. tagging or ponifying other peoples property is a crime. there is no room for discussion. that is simply the law. and posting this evidence of crime here is kinda stupid to begin with. no one should post evidence of his/her own crimes. and i didnt go beserk on this "artist". also this person just doesnt give a damn anyway by the reaction. so this person is a hopeless case.

so to conclude. i try to not harshly attack an "artist" on here anymore. some slip ups can always happen tho. as for this sites rules and terms, i would wish, that IR crimes wont be accepted. no matter how minor they are. they are crimes and shoulnd be allowed. maybe a new rule should be added for those cases. its maybe rare but it can obviously happen. and that is not ok.

also. an artistic expression is not a valid reason to ruin other peoples property and get away with it. and this person was just bored and did it because F it.

I’m not talking for the site here, I’m just personally curious at this point what you think the appropriate response would be.

We’re an international website.

How do you propose that the uploader be "reported" for their crime? Where do they live? What police department are you going to call? What are their local laws? Was that really a public table, or was it just a table in their own back yard and they misrepresented what happened for the sake of "art"?

Even when someone makes a credible statement about harming others on the site, trying to figure out WHO to report them to is a massive pain in the ass that can lead to weeks of getting told to fuck off by ISPs like Comcast or Verizon, and even when we do know where someone lives informing the FBI or Interpol rarely results in anything more than a "Thanks" and the person keeps posting here as if nothing happened.

So someone may have vandalized a table, which depending on where they live may or may not be a crime, or may be free speech, or may be their own table in their own back yard.

So, I’m curious – what do you propose should be done about what you have concluded is a crime?

We’re not going to let you berate the uploader because you’re offended – that’s not going to happen. So other than that, what’s your solution?

tagging or ponifying other peoples property is a crime. there is no room for discussion

Maybe spend a little time reading up on the history of graffiti as art. There is a LOT of room for discussion about whether graffiti is a valid form of art, and whether drawing art on public facilities is vandalism, or a form of free speech in the public space.

as for this sites rules and terms, i would wish, that IR crimes wont be accepted

If the crime is something that’s in our wheelhouse, like someone uploading leaks or stollen corporate assets, or things like full page scans of the comics or from Hasbro’s or AllSparks’ art books, then we absolutely delete those.

But there is no international law, or local law as far as our operations are concerned, covering graffiti such that it would be illegal for us to host images of it. Many museums present images of graffiti – and as we do not vet the "quality of art" that we host this image is fine.

If you want to bring criminal charges against the uploader, that’s your call. But right now I don’t even know what time zone they live in, or even if what they did constitutes a crime where they live.

Beyond that, if the image upsets you so much, please hide or filter it. And hide the "graffiti" tag, as you will undoubtedly be equally triggered by any other images under that tag.

PS: Xalte ere gova da cant, beltalowda. Milowda ereluf, milowda owkwa, milowda lives.

Again, this is just my opinion.

This is one of the pettiest complaints I’ve seen in a long while.

Do you know what a homeowner’s association (HOA) is? You remind me of the stereotypical old lady who loves whining to the HOA because her neighbor’s blinds are the wrong shade of white and demands they be fined until they replace them with blinds that are acceptable under the HOA bylaws.

Please go outside. And while you’re out there, please try to do something other than using a ruler to make sure other people’s grass isn’t three millimeters too tall.

Also, in slightly less condescending words – there are a number of countries where graffiti is considered artwork and is legally permitted. So just because it may be illegal where you live doesn’t necessary mean it is where OP lives. I dunno – I don’t know where OP lives, I don’t know the laws of whatever country/locality that is, and I really don’t care.

i didnt say that we should call law enforcements here lol. just dont give those people a platform to express themselve and maybe even get rewarded for it with upvotes and favs to encourage more of this. so just taking it down would be enough. so simply show that IRL vandalism is not cool. simple as that.

I don't pay my taxes
If it were largely visible and offensive in nature then I’d be all for deleting it or getting authorities to cover it up. but it’s a tiny cute safe Lyra where people are gonna sit their ass and are unlikely to see it or pay it any mind, so this reaction is kinda silly.

ok i get it. the moral standards here tend to go to zero and no one here of the ones in charge see any kind of responsability to take any actions. i give up. no more reportings. no effort to keep the site clean.

@barhander if that guy would tag shit on your car or your property, you would react differently for sure. so yeah. its maybe a minor thing. but it is still against the law in basically every country which can affort benches lol.

I am out of this discussion. its no use to discuss against a wall.
