And such a focus has been a problem in the past.
Rule 5 did not used to be as strict as it was. Things used to be allowable is they were deemed anthro “enough” to pass as not being human at all.
But, artists and uploaders kept trying to push the boundaries. And staff spent a lot of time trying to determine if specific images were anthro “enough” to be an issue. Looking at the hands, feet, shape of muzzle, etc. So much time in fact, that we were spending more time on that than other moderation duties.

So if we try to go the same route with Spike images, “Does he have claws? Are his shoulders humanoid?” We’ll just be getting bogged down in the details again.
Right now we try to keep it a simple: “Does spike look too human overall”? It’s not perfect. But it gets the job down without us spending an inordinate amount of time on every Spike image.
