Because the canonical url actually isn’t data.tumblr.com/stuff, but s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/stuff. Use that and https works again without any certificate errors.

Guys, I can’t browse Derpi anymore. When I navigate to any page, it BEGINS to load correctly, with everything in its place, then it breaks: https://i.imgur.com/nlodZNy.png

I’m on Windows 10 with the most recent version of Firefox. I’ve tried clearing the cache and cookies, but nothing seems to help and I’m reluctant to do a factory reset on my browser. Thus far I’ve only encountered this problem on Derpi, which suggests it’s a problem with the site, though I can’t be sure.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Edit why didn’t I try safe mode before posting this guys I swear I’m not stupid nevermind it’s fixed it was my extensions pleasedon’tkillme

Why does it always derp out whenever I log into my account causing me to hit back and go somewhere else on this site to officially log me in?
It didn’t used to do that, but instead brought me to the exact page I left off in before I logged out.

@Wiimeiser

“Dark Background and Light Text”. It’s an extension I use to make browsing certain websites less painful on the eyes.

It has five settings, and only two cause the site to break.

The two in question are “Default” and “Stylesheet Processor”.

“Disabled” and “Inverted” (obviously) work, along with “Simple CSS”.

It also might be pertinent to point out that when navigating to Derpi, the website just barely starts loading text and images into a proper format but then it suddenly borks into the screenshot I posted.

Here’s the weblink for the addon itself: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dark-background-light-text/

Hope that helps!

@SuperSupermario24
Based on what I’ve seen the new lines not appearing is actually a bug which I’ve fixed and the solution is pending review before going live, thank you for bringing it to our attention.

@SeraphimDawn
I also dislike when I’m taken away from the page I was on after logging in or signing out, so I can definitely understand your frustration. This could have been a side effect of some things recently getting updated to newer versions. I’ve found a solution which is currently pending review and will hopefully be available shortly.

@Two_Bit_Magician
There isn’t much we can do about an Add-On like that causing issues. I gave it a try on Firefox’s upcoming “Quantum” release and there definitely is a noticeable flash of unstyled content while the extension does its thing, but then the site appears to be functional after half a second or so. I suggest you disable the extension for Derpibooru and switch to the dark theme in your settings (which should give you a similar result).

You can’t click on the nicknames in the changelog…at least I think it would be nice to have them direct to the profiles.
Also, was it always needed to make an account to create a forum topic?

It used to be different long ago (over a year), but we had a lot of issues with spambots (particularly from China and South Korea) flooding the forums with spam threads, so we had to disable that functionality.

I don’t know when or how or what but somehow the high quality thumbnails thing got unchecked… I’m assuming it’s saved by cookies?

I don’t know how long it’s been unchecked lol.. I was just looking at the thumbnails just now and was like “huh, those don’t look very sharp”

I don’t think it’s been long.. hmm.. now I’m curious how it happened…

I’m assuming this is 100% client side?

I don’t think it was too long… thing is, I view the site at effectively 225% zoom… so it’d look a little blurry without the high res thumbnails

@Joey
That’s what I assumed

Weird how I wouldn’t notice it right away… I think it’s possibly been like this for at least a few days if not a couple weeks… hmm

I know it hasn’t been since I updated the operating system… as I got a screenshot of the thumbnails over a week after I did that and they look sharp even when zoomed in

shrugs

Thanks

Although, they did look pretty blurry… hmm… it’s possibly been not that long.. I just can’t remember… I also don’t browse the images a ton

Edit: I don’t think it was that long… a couple of days at the most… probably less… dunno

A Really Classy Artist - 250+ images under their artist tag

Not really a site’s bug, more like a network issue, so here’s my ( and a few other’s ) issue: the time for the main page or any page to load is incredibly long. I remember a few years ago Derpibooru was fast. Really fast (compared to its predecessor notably) I did suspect it was an ISP issue rather than a long script.

I got a bit of technical info, as it varies from where I browse from. sometimes a wifi hotspot, an hotel, a friend’s home, and of course mine at home. My ISP’s Free® (*not to be confused with freedom)

Have some technical stuff, i guess the more you have data the more it helps. All evaluated with other sites (Deviantart, Twitter, Facebook, 8chan, Youtube) for comparison.

  • Free/Proxad (88.163.. near Tavaux with a ping of 111ms on both derpibooru and derpicdn, and 82.226.., Dijon, France, quite slow)
  • SFR/Numéricable ( 77.152.. I recall it worked quite normally on a WiFi+laptop. near Tassenières, France.)
  • Bluewin (81.62.. near Lausanne, WiFi T61p, Win64, Firefox, working actually fine)
  • Telnet (94.224.., a hotel in Grimbergen, same T61p, Win64, Firefox: Sloow, cannot post)
  • Orange (90.96.., Besancon, France. Loads relatively fast but not for a FTTH connection)
  • Sunrise (89.217.., Geneva, Swiss, T60 on Linux: average)

    Tested in local ( Free/Proxad) with:
  • Ethernet-connected AMD Ryzen on Win7 X64, 16Gb RAM on Chromium, Brave, Firefox ; and Debian 8.6 AMD64
  • Wifi-connected Thinkpad T61p ( Win7 X64, Firefox 57, PaleMoon) T60 ( Gentoo with Icecat, Firefox 54 )
  • Wifi and 4G on a Blackberry Q10, Firefox mobile/Brave, which depends, but also pretty much slow on local.

@patachu
I did some testing on this about a week ago, and I determined that the issue has something to do with the Cloudflare colocation at CDG in France (Trace, colo=). Online.net (the server host) and Free peer directly, but the website is loaded via a reverse proxy server (Cloudflare) and that is what seems to be causing the issue. It could be that Cloudflare’s peering ports with Online.net are inadequately large and need to be expanded, or it could be that Cloudflare simply needs to add more servers to deal with its traffic load at CDG.

There’s not much I could really suggest you do about it, except to use a proxy.

My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

The Banned One
I just noticed that the mobile version of the site goes back/forward one picture in the picture view when I swipe left/right from the screen edge. This is an extremely annoying and unexpected (there’s no indication what’s going to happen) behavior that drives me nuts when browsing.

Now, I know I’m posting this inside a Bug report sub, so the bug is: That behavior cannot be disabled, not even locally. I’m asking for a simple switch on the ‘Local’ subpage of ‘Settings’.

If it’s any relevant, I’m using Chrome 61 on Android 4.1.2 (I know).
