Tag Aliases - Read the first page before suggesting.

Perhaps the other way around. Every spellbook could be called a magic book, but there could be other uses for “magic book” such as a book which is enchanted.

The Dragon Ball tags are quite a mess in the way they currently are.
 
Dragon Ball has around 400 results, Dragon Ball Z has the most at around 1200 and Dragon Ball Super only has 60. Dragon Ball GT has only 18 results.
 
This has kinda become a mess for those tagging as they would tag dragon ball Z dispite that being a seperate show when it could be, for example. Dragon Ball Super because the DBZ tag is the most popular.
 
The best fix I can think is for all varients of Dragon Ball “X” to imply Dragon Ball. Same goes for things such as Super Saiyan, and other varients of super saiyan implying super saiyan.

Hadn’t considered that. In that case mayhap better no alias then. Otherwise it might be too difficult to keep those definitions apart.

Done… And unfortunately, that’s all I feel comfortable tonight.
 
Normally when I alias to tags together, the background processor (Sidekiq) generates a “reindex” job for every image on both sides of the merge (so merging a 150-image tag to a 500-image tag would end up creating 650 reindex jobs). Usually the jobs process very quickly (multiple jobs process a second), but doing those two aliases instead generated only two jobs that lasted over a minute a piece.
 
I’m guessing someone changed the aliasing code so it just does all the images together in a bulk job (which would be more efficient). But I’ve heard no discussion about this, and I can’t see anything in the site’s recent code commits that suggest this, so I can’t verify that this is intentional and isn’t something going wrong.
 
I’ll finish the rest of the outstanding requests once I can get some confirmation as to what exactly is going on. It’s just, if this is not intentional, than the aliases could end being screwed up, and that’s not fun to fix.

Fixed! I assumed that including the old link was only for DeviantArt based upon what I saw, and also put the alias request as the very first thing. :P

They’re both the same thing, so pick whichever one you want to be the primary one.

Maybe Tank should have the alias tortoise so you can subtract tortoise when you want non-tortoise tanks.

But even then, we can’t do that because we don’t put species implications of canon characters, and we already have the tank [vehicle] and water tank for other tanks.
