What is with the phobia of normal socialization on this site?

You can’t have even a short conversation without a mod coming in to bust it up damn near every time. Is there a comment limit on the pictures that we’re eating up or something?

I don’t blame them for enforcing the rules. That’s their job. What I don’t understand is the purpose of the rule.

The purpose is the featured image is always a hotbed for people to go off the rails discussing whatever they want on the incorrect assumption that its comment section is some sort of “trending topic!” forum thread.
 
Don’t fuck up an image’s permanent comment section just because whatever was on your mind for 3 days coincided with the 3 days the image was granted increased visibility.
