Addressing the Elephant in the Room

I don’t want to bring it up, but I kinda have to, or else it’s gonna remain on my mind for the rest of the week.
 
There’s 6 episodes left of season 7.
 
Season 8 is promised.
 
Movie is almost done.
 
We’re less than two years away from the end of MLP:FiM.

When did they say Season 8 was the last? I’ve never heard that officially, though My Little Dashie did mention it…

I don’t know when MLP G4 is coming to an end, but the fact that we have an entire movie and another season of episodes for people to complain about makes me feel pretty optimistic.
 
(I’m joking a little. A lot of people are looking forward to seeing the movie, and think that recent show episodes were great.)

I’m pretty sure it’s implied.

G4 as a whole is supposedly going to end in 2020.
 
While it’s sad that eventually it’ll be done forever, in a way it’s also a good thing because I don’t want to see it decline so far that the bad episode numbers far outweigh the good. The cracks have been starting to show for a while already, IMO.
 
I don’t want it to become a zombie franchise like SpongeBob or The Big Bang Theory, where the glory days are long gone and you get maybe one or two actually good episodes a season.

Let’s wait until Hasbro, DHX, or someone who works on the show actually confirm or deny if the show is coming to an end soon or not.

Yes, because companies always hire more people just before they completely shut the factory down and turn off all the lights, and Hasbro never milks a money making series to the last dime.
 
An 11% sales growth is always the death knell for any company.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, they’re making tons of money from MLP:FiM. I’m also not saying it’s impossible we could be getting a spin-off, hopefully with a little higher rating like PG-13, which would make EVEN MORE money. Not only that, but it would be an appropriate continuation with the mane six becoming more or less background ponies.
 
Hasbro will PROBABLY play their cards right. I just feel like the current main series is going to end at 8. It may or may not, but something’s off about the recent events.
 
The only thing I can think of regarding a new situation for Season 8 to take care of is transforming Chrysalis, which is backed up by storyboard art and such.

Hasbro NEVER plays their cards right. They are going to run this thing into the ground just like they always do with all of their properties. They already are, how do you think we ended up with this many seasons as is?

… while I do realize that the show is eventually going to end, why do you say that it will end after season 8, specifically? As it stands right now, it’s a popular franchise that is netting Hasbro a good deal of money – what practical reason would they have to end it?
 
To my knowledge, Hasbro tends to keep the current iterations of its properties running as long as they’re profitable and reboots them when they stop being so. They don’t pull the plug on a popular series just like that. A major decline in the show’s popularity (and I mean a serious, constant decline, not the usual rounds of fandom complaining every series gets) would be a much better indication of an upcoming cancellation than the show reaching an arbitrary number of seasons, seems to me.

Some people like to pretend this isn’t a toy franchise and don’t realize that if toys keep selling, the show keeps going.

I could’ve sworn I read somewhere that MLP FiM is ending in season 8 but the franchise kind of continues in EqG. At least with characters that were inspired by Gen 4. This isn’t necessarily bad. Nothing suggests there’s not gonna be a Gen 5.
 
I saw that Good Vibes short for EqG. It was pretty good. I liked its message. I hate high school settings because it focuses on typical high school first world problems but using the characters that way to send such a positive message was brilliant. If EqG’s future episodes are gonna be like that, it has a bright future. And this is coming from a guy that’s familiar with shit like that since Beverly Hills Teens.

I think EQG’s biggest problem was its high school setting. It seems the YT series might be trying to take it in a more interesting direction with the girls using their powers more and acting like super heroes(?)

If it is a spin off we get I hope its not just equestria girls. Equestria girls are ok but ponies are still best to me.

I’m really on the fence about EQG. Don’t really like it, but don’t really dislike it, either.

I just find the EQG style ugly, is that just me? Other than that I couldn’t care less except for Sunset.

I do think the EQG style is fairly bad. I can understand that they were going for something human-like, but it came off more… sectoid-like.
 

They all have big heads, skinny arms, their legs are too long and their hips are too high.

Show’s end. That’s just the nature of these things.
 
That said, I will feel extremely depressed for when it actually does. But I’m going to enjoy it until then.
