What with some threads consisting of ranting about the show, I figured we need a thread dedicated to praising characters or certain aspects about the show.

I love Twilight so much. She’s incredibly cute with her adorkable moments. I loved her as a Unicorn, and I love her as our royal princess just as much. She brings me joy and happiness. <3

I love the little cute things they have the ponies do in each episode. There’s just something so incredibly appealing about the ponies’ designs. I just love looking through screencaps after each episode for that reason!

With a fandom like this ,who need haters/Positivity is circlejerking even if the show is named “Friendship Is Magic”

First off, the Unpopular opinion thread has been around since 2013 while this thread was created just this week. of course this one is going to be smaller. hell, with our answers we just straight-up doubled the size of this thread.
 
Second, the Unpopular opinion thread is exactly for that; opinions that by the poster’s own admissions, most people won’t share; it’s not for complaining about the show. we don’t have a thread specifically for that purpose, although the Season 5 and 6 threads became pits of negativity by the time the seasons were finishing, and the few posts of the Season 7 thread are already mostly negativism and the season hasn’t started yet.

That was exactly my point,genuine fans of MLP dont exist ,just hipster teens and channers that latched on a show because that made them look original and kewl to the kewl Kids Internet Club but when the show did exactly what a show with technicolors equines with a huge ass FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC subtitles was supposed and is expected to do,the hipsters turned against it seing that the cartoon will never show Games of Thrones-esque tales of woe and betrayal.People give shit about the Steven Universe fandom but at least they are genuine in their love of SU and they like the show for what it is,they never left expectations cloud their judgement  
My point is people dont genuinely like MLP,they like their headcanon version or the memetic distorted version that 4Chan presented in 2011.That’s why we have so many “fan of the fandoms”

If I didn’t genuinely enjoy the show, I could have quit after watching seasons 3, 4, or 5 and then moved onto whatever else is new and trendy. The fact that I haven’t already done so means I can’t find anything better to do with my time.
 
Also while as a whole I enjoyed Season 5 more than 6, the episodes I enjoyed in Season 6 were the ones I really enjoyed. And the ones I didn’t won’t really stick out in my memory :3
 
Also, I’ve never watched The Game of Thrones so I don’t know why people compare the two series.

I’m of the opinion that the show generally gets better every season. Season 6 and Starlight made me more enthusiastic than ever about the show and I’m loving the direction it’s going.

I had no idea I only like this show ironically or for the memetic factor. Tell me more about my opinions, please.

Pinkie Pie is the best pony.

Just a few minutes of MLP-FiM fixes me. No matter what is going on, even just listening to some of the sons completely turns my frown upside down and gets me productive and feeling upbeat again.
 
And, yes, Pinkie Pie is pretty awesome.

So hey, Rainbow Dash is not really my favorite of the six, but I was thinking recently about some of her past episodes, and it occurred to me that she may actually be one of the characters on the show who has developed the most over time. I mean think about it. She started off kind of as a one note character. It was all about being fast, being awesome, and wanting to be a Wonderbolt someday. Yet somehow, along the way, she’s picked up a bunch of stuff from her friends that have added more to her personality. Twilight taught her to enjoy reading, and now she’s embraced it to the point that she goes to conventions. Fluttershy helped her learn to love a pet, and she dived headfirst into that too. She even apparently learned to appreciate an occasional spa trip, which I can only imagine is attributable to Rarity. She’s even more open with her friends, like when she revealed hurt feelings over her team nickname, when a number of years earlier she would never have mentioned something like that.
 
It’s a detail I really like, especially given how it’s been built up over a long period of time. Because development like that is something I’d expect to see from real friends hanging out, and for Rainbow Dash of all ponies to be the one to do it is pretty neat.

That’s kind of sad if you ask me. Although a lot of it seems to be the same old stuff (Starlight Glimmer, where’s my Celestia episode, etc.), so maybe that will change when the season actually starts.

Dosn’t help that the main contributor to all of those (a random BP who by his own admission, hasn’t liked the show since season 1 and only sticks around to complain and to threaten to leave the fandom every two posts) got there early. the thread got really empty after he was banned.

Rainbow Dash was one of the things that made me like the show so much in the first place. My favorites “should” have been Twilight, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, then Rarity last. But it shattered my expectations. Twilight was almost exactly what I expected, and what happened is not that I loved her any less than expected. But Rainbow Dash was so much more endearing than I expected a character like her could possibly be, and I wound up loving her even more than Twilight. She’s fun, sweet, has a lovely heart even if she hides it, and a great sense of humor. And while she’s not academically inclined, she’s probably almost as smart as Twilight. She’s practically a study of a gifted child who never had to work hard at anything, and so never really learned how to. She does what she does well and effortlessly, but when things do get beyond that level, she cracks easily. It’s very endearing.
 
Rarity was another one. Though she still wasn’t my favorite, she also wasn’t the Veronica (from Josie and the Pussycats) archetype she seemed to be. And not by a little bit either. She wasn’t merely not hate-worthy, she was completely loveable and alive. I grew up with girls like that. She was another deeply endearing character, which was totally unexpected.

Hey maybe this could also be a thread for gushing saying slightly positive things about the comics too.
 
I like how Celestia gets to actually do a lot more stuff in the comics (compared to the show at least). The “Reflections” story arc is the most significant character development she’s ever had, with the caveat that one must take care to understand the events of her past in the correct order.

I really am a fan of the comics. I try to pick up the new one at the local comic store every chance I get, both because I enjoy some of the stories (really loved the one with Rainbow Dash and the buffalo) and to encourage my local store to keep stocking them.
 
Also, it’s nice to walk up to the counter, as an adult, with a MLP comic in my hand, and say; “I want this”.
 
Sets a good role model for the kids - lets them know its ok to do what they like, no matter what kind of stares they might get.

The show is awesome, and only continues to get better and better. …Though I still haven’t seen more than half of season 6 yet.
