Official Character Bashing thread

I could understand Fluttershy having a completely dominant animal as her main pet, but why Rarity? You’d think she’d be all expressive about how she is Opal’s master and she needs to obey her. Why does she let Opal have free range?

I shed no tears for the wuvy-doveys. They’re pretty much Hasbro-approved fluffy ponies, it was inevitable that something awful would happen to them. All things considered, there are worse fates than being enslaved by gross bug fairies. Especially if you’re too friendly and dumb to recognize something awful is happening.

dont like Princess Celestia either, she’s too much of a Masked Chessmaster for my taste. Plus she seems like a prude.

Rarity acts domineering but in reality she’s kind of a pushover when it comes to those close to her.

Cadence. Fix her or get rid of her.
 
Fluttershy. Her entire character says “Sue”. Hell, she’s had a stereotypical Sue personality since day one. Her only “flaw” isn’t really a flaw at all because it only makes her that much more endearing. I don’t dislike her or feel it invalidates her as a character, but it’s true.

Games Ponies Play kind of set her character in a good direction, IMO. Make her naive and gullible as all hell. Make her hard-headed and unwilling to let things run themselves. All of this just screams a princess that is coming to grips with her new power and is struggling.

Have Prince Blueblood get kicked out of canterlot and moves in with Shining and Cadence. Basicly a Pony version of this movie:

The novel also gives her some decent characterization, being what is essentially a mother to the entire empire and knowing every citizen by name.

The “empire” is just a city. And I would’ve preferred a separate personality from Celestia.

You just stated two things I have never noticed before.  
First, OH MY GOSH, the Crystal Empire ain’t an empire at all! HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE THAT.  
Second, OH MY GOSH, Cadance totally IS Celestia! All she needs is to grow a few feet and a motherly tone in her voice and she’s EXACTLY THE SAME.

Celestia’s been running a country singlehanded for a millennium. You don’t hold a position of power for anywhere near that long without being good at manipulating people, regardless of how hard the setting tries to be a sugarbowl.

To be fair, that’s probably to her credit. Celestia isn’t exactly as motherly as she lets on when you think about how she is.

I actually enjoy the fact that the Season 3 finale confirmed Celestia has been manipulating Twilight all her life. One of the few things that the episode got right. It adds some depth to Celestia and makes her seem like a more credible politician.
