To be honest, I’m more pissed about this being the final season more than concerned about how the Mane Six will be utilized in the series finale. I share your concern about the Mane Six, I really do. But the fact that Hasbro/DHX/The showrunners/whoever chose to decide the show would end at Season 9 still makes my piss boil. There are still characters mostly new and some old that have yet to get the same amount of coverage and loose end tying that the main characters have and they just want to dump this all on the fans to finish the jobs for them?!  
I happen to like most of the new characters FiM brings to the table but if you’re gonna say they’re important and then all of sudden sideline them?! Then the only way this can be remedied is if with more episodes. Oh wait! We’re almost out of episodes? Guess they better should have not wasted those slots on those Apple Family and later CMC plots!

Honestly plenty of secondary characters had enough screentime in this season enough. The only secondary ones I want to be developed furtherly are Discord (I want his origin story) and Lightning Dust (I want her redemption, maybe it could be part of RD’s finale episode). And in the between we’re surely gonna get another ep for the Evil Trio before the series finale (and I’ve reasons to believe this one will be focused on giving the three more background about their past). For the rest I want the final eps to put full focus on the Mane 6. This is THEIR show, this is supposed to be THEIR last stand, and like THEY started it, I want THEM to finish it. And I won’t stop saying it: I don’t care if I liked all the eps of the season so far and if I will eventually like all the next 10 ones: I’m still going “Godot’s Unlimited Penalty” with this season. If the finale fails, I will botch the entire season, and that’s my final decision. I’m not gonna accept it if the Mane 6 end their journey with humiliation. I just won’t. And nobody will make me change my mind on that. Alright?

As much as I would love that for Lightning Dust, are you sure you’re not interested in any development for the Student Six or even the Pillars? And what is Godot’s Unlimited Penalty?

In Ace Attorney, when you have to show the final evidence to solve the final case of the first Trilogy, prosecutor Godot press on you by giving a potential unlimited penalty: no matter how much healt you have left in your Trial Bar, if you show the wrong evidence it’s an instant Game Over. Right now I’m in the exact same position with S9: I liked all the eps of the first half, but the Mane 6 are still my full priority on this series, and what I want the most is seeing them having a satisfying conclusion, and no matter how good the rest of the season has been, I’m ready to botch it entirely if the finale will fail in doing a satisfying conclusion to their journey.
 
As for the other characters, I don’t think the pillar really need something else, I mean they found their places in the world already, and any episode dedicated to them would be basically a filler. As for the Young 6…. while like I said, I liked all the eps so far, Uprooted and She’s all Yak were my least favorites of the season, so I don’t really want them wasting space for potentially more important eps thanks. I loved their eps in S8, but their time is over now. The Mane 6 are the ones who MUST have their last hurrah now. Enough eos for secondary characters.

I say give Derpy a full episode where all she does is stare at the camera for 22-minutes.

That’s alot of unfair generalization. Just because somebody dislikes a few episodes doesn’t mean they hate the Mane 6.
 
Where are all these “Mane 6”-haters that you, and BG #E2F4 are always going off about?  
While I see the occasional attention-whorse troll going, “Applejack werst ponee lolz im funnee!!1” I honestly haven’t seen many fans who hate all 6 mane characters, and only like the side characters.  
I remember debating with a Sunset-fan whom wanted Sunset to replace Twilight, but even they said they like the other Mane 6 characters, despite not caring for Twilight.
 
That said, I actually don’t hate any of the Mane 6, and I actually like them all.

That’s bull, sure he’s partial to Trixie, but I see him give the Mane 6 plenty of love on his site, and such. (He was even nice about “Twilicorn,” back when everyone was hating Twilight back then) I never seen him make a nasty comment about any character really. He’ll joke a li’l, but nothing malicious.
 
Just because somebody likes a character like Trixie or Starlight doesn’t mean they hate the Mane 6.
