Wasted mainstream potential? (Tbh, it wouldn’t be if the fans did accept change instead of resisting it when it comes to Twilicorn or if Rob Renzetti didn’t move on from MLP so the quality of the post-S3 episodes won’t decline.)
 
If that doesn’t work, please tell me how did Minecraft got popular again recently? (So I would know how to make something mainstream again or something idk?)

My dude, the upload history says otherwise. Upload rates didn’t drop until long after Twilicorn and EQG happened, and have also been on the rise since S5. The people who were only here for the novelty left when it stopped being new and weird, the actual fans are still around.

Is just that I want the whole world to recognize MLP just like they did with Avengers, Simpsons, SpongeBob, maybe Star Trek and Fortnite, not just the fandom. If so, the 2017 MLP movie would have gotten better reviews since it’s faithful to the source material. (Don’t mind me saying it again) And then most Steven Universe/Star vs./Miraculous/Rick and Morty fans would recognize MLP and have it in their crossover fanarts.

The 2017 movie was never going to do that any favors. Yeah half the reviews were people moaning about bronies (and not losing their jobs), but let’s be real it’s kind of a bad movie. I do think MLP deserves more recognition for being incredibly well made, though.

Because of that, and the fact that EqD said about “Possible Second Movie On The Way”, that made me say that it deserves a critically redeeming sequel, like Angry Birds 2 (The movie, not the game) and the Rugrats In Paris movie. Not to mention the film made nine times it’s budget. (Yes, I was proven wrong when I cried about the movie being a flop because of the 2D-only release and the underperformance and the fact that the movie went from #4 to #9 on the box office)
 
Sadly, it wasn’t the case anymore. In two years, the 2021 movie will reboot MLP as a whole because it’s not a sequel. But we’ll wait and see if a “standalone” film is or is not a reboot of the franchise that kickstarts G5. Or maybe a reimagined FiM cinematic universe separate from G5.

Bad is kinda stretching it since according to the critical consensus, it was more a mediocre and generic 2010’s animated film that uses all the cliches to a T.

Which is why I scratch my head when I think they don’t understand the part of being faithful to the source material. But around 2019, they understood too late with TTG and now Alita and Pikachu.

Hence kind of. I’ll say it this way, I’m in no hurry to watch it again, which is a damn shame given the writing talent they had access to.

If you think G5 is going to completely reboot MLP, let me remind you of why reboots exist.. The point of reboots is to capture what made the most money, and since FiM made a lot money, the reboot is going to be practically identical if it’s not an outright sequel.

I personally thought it was an okay movie, would watch it again if I’m in the mood, but looking at the bigger picture, the consensus is more “it’s okay, pretty forgettable” than “oh my god, this is the worst piece of crap I’ve ever watched”

Well, look at the Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10 reboot… (Just saying, at least we have DuckTales 2017. Not gonna say Voltron because dead gays made people hate Season 8.)
 
Also, if a reboot is practically identical, then why the leaked concept art was… different?
 
P.S., FYI, Transformers have undergone a lot of reboots since G1 ended, Beast Wars, Animated, Bayformers, Prime and now Cyberverse. So was G.I. Joe with things gone from Real American Hero to Extreme to Sigma Six to Stephen Sommers Films to Resolute to Renegades.

All those reboots were, in terms of characters and plot framework, identical to the most successful iteration. Details changed, but nothing else did.

Yeah, but I am afraid that G5 won’t bring G4 fans in once there is a first look. It will make people say “I miss FiM, THIS NEW SHOW SUX!!!” (Yes, I referenced you know who.) Which it became the case for TMNT fans since Rise of the TMNT came after TMNT 2012 ended.
 
Same happened with Justice League Action and probably LPS: A World of Our Own. And I am afraid it will happen to G5 and Thundercats Roar.

In fairness, speaking as a huuuge TMNT fan “Rise of TMNT” could’ve been alot better.

That would imply a consensus, which I doubt is going to happen.
 
TBH I’ve been interacting with artists long enough that I know there’s a lot of them which gave up on the show but still do pony art because of the demand, they might even be a majority of active artists at this point AFAIK. The end of G4 isn’t going to stop them from doing art because they’ve already detached themselves from it’s continuity.
 
When G5 comes out, if the designs aren’t original and don’t warrant interest on the artistic scene (remakes of the Mane 6 sans AJ scenario being the most likely to do that), you can be certain that G4 will remain the go-to generation for fanart. G5 has a gigantic hurdle to clear to even be a blip on the radar of artists, let alone to make a mark on websites other than EQD and here.

At this point G5 is nothing but some concept art. It could be years off.
 
I really hope that Boulder does a spinoff of G4 as a bridge series or something.

I was surprised how well done that was. Especially, the “neck stretch” cartoony gag which is kinda hard to pull off in 3D/CGI without altering the model.

That and PewDiePie and the hate that the internet has for Fortnite also helped make Minecraft more popular.
