It being a show for kids is literally the worst excuse you could’ve just came up with.

I like fan theories enough, and I get leaving things open to interpretation.
 
But once those things become required, then somethings gone wrong.
 

 
Faust’s very first idea with this show is that “being for little girls” was no excuse for sucking.

I’m saying that there’s nothing wrong with the plot, unless one goes out of their way to try to find stuff to nitpick.
 
Why can’t some unicorns be more powerful than others? It’s been happening all over the place all the time.

It’s a fact. Adult fans demanding the show to be more than it is is fuckin’ ridiculous. It’s not an excuse, it’s a comment on how #&@ demanding some are.

Dude, stop trying to tell me what I’m thinking. It really isn’t helping your case. I didn’t go out of my way to find this complaint, I couldn’t miss it. Hell, I usually overlook a great deal.

And there is no way in hell you can handwave shit as “expected for a kids show” around here. Not after this show has given us much better before.

Didn’t see you put that info at the end so excuse the late response.  
From what I’ve gathered, starlight motives never changed, this was just a different one.  
Tackling starlight’s ideals wasn’t too hard for the writers to do because they already did it in cutie map showing that while her talks of friendship and equality was what she truly believed, her actions failed to create her end goal.  
This episode was about her revenge not her ideals and even then I’ve already stated where it still shone through.  
To drive my point further, consider what would happen if twi did prove her ideals wrong, what would change? Starlight still has the upper hand and she still had her way of life steam rolled by the 6. Just like with cutie map her ideals are overshadowed by her actions.

No it’s not being demanding. It’s expecting better quality than the crap ending we got and how it effected everything. If you honestly think that it’s a kid excuse is going to fly. Then that means your letting the staff do whatever they want. Criticism exists for a reason.

I understand what you are saying, but cult leaders, and especially people with Starlight’s type of maturity and methodology, would almost never fall under that category. People vary drastically, and the type of justification you are reasoning would suddenly ‘fix her’ just doesn’t match up with Starlight. Maybe other characters, but not her in particular. You understand what I’m trying to say?

But Starlight did enough research to create an altered time-travel spell using the cutie map linked to the Elements of Harmony as a focus point. Twilight stated that after the first or second time jump.
 
By that reasoning, Starlight knew about the elements of harmony and their role.

I understand what you’re trying to say, but I don’t see why it’s a strong enough argument to warrant a lot of hate for what happened in the show.
 
I’d rather adopt a headcanon and make it work than criticize events for not being all too likely. I mean, sure, it’s not likely, but it’s possible, and apparently from what we saw with Starlight, it must be the case.

I wonder if M.A. Larson had handled the finale or at least the time travel part, they may have had a better/more time explaining star’s backstory.

I refuse to believe Starlight came up with her twisted philosophy herself. Somewhere along the line, possibly her history that wasn’t touched upon likely due to time constraint, she was influenced or indoctrinated herself by something or somepony.
