Season 8 Episode Discussion [Spoilers, possible leaks, rumours etc.]

Sparity has been around since season 1. Its still here. Its fun to play with. Fluttercord is about the same but on flatter characters. Its the only time Fluttshy isn’t being shy and Discord isn’t being an ass. The question is will it be resolved by season 9? I don’t think so because of obvious reasons.

McCarthy seems to always liked that ship so maybe she will greenlight it for S9 for Haber to write it in.  
Also they will also need to make something extra for episode 200. Sure they might just do with SugarMac wedding, but i think they do know that one of the most popular fandom elemnts would be either canonising LyraBon or FlutterCord. Sparity is a different pair of shoes.

I actually don’t think any of those ships would be canon. There’s too many questions. Different species, age gaps, same gender. Besides, the dynamic of the characters involved are fine as it is. Why change it?

You could say the same about “why make Big Mac and Sugar Belle a couple?”. The reason is that they already teased Discord and FS as romantic in many occasions so it owuld make more sense to fully canonise it beofre the show ends than leave it ambiguous. Its a different case with ships that weren’t implied. If Avatar TLA didn’t end with Katara/Aang together it would dissapoint fans becuase there was a build up that wasn’t fulfilled. If Dash isn’t teased with anyone and might be as much together with Aj as much as with Zephyr or Quibble or SOarin, then there is no need to focus on her romantic end, because it will only upset majority of fans.  
But if you make a character who is very reliable on its relationship with another character and tease it as romantic then you need to make a closure. Both DiscordxFluttershy AND SpikexRarity need to have a closure. Whether they end up as friends or romantics, this is something that at least need to be adressed.

Probably. Unless something changed he is officially a story editor until he resigns. The leaked emails even told McCarthy to inform Haber that he need to wrap up everything in S9 without any “open endings”

I didn’t need a closure for Aand and Katara or Naruto and Hinata or Korra and Asami but we still got them, so i think Hasbro will do what majority of fans support as a ship.

Let’s face it, someone high up seems to ship them harder than the East India Company.  

I think A Matter of Principals is gonna be bad because it’s another episode where Discord is a dick, except even worse. At least in the other ones, he had some sort of reason to be an asshole. In MNFBKD, he was jealous, What About Discord, he wanted to teach Twilight a lesson. why would he even care about being the temporary principal?

I hope he’s not a complete asshole. I actually quite liked him in the previous episode, because he actually had a bit of nuance beyond ‘intolerable dickmuffin’.
