Shining was also a huge issue but We were talking about Alicorn lore
 
Overall ACW kinda set a precedence where the writers can just use style over substance, regardless of how decent SA and Cadence are the way they got introduced was a turning point which led us to a lot of the show’s issues

ACW was a flawed episode, but I wouldn’t call it a turning point for the worse. It made me excited for what the next season would hold. No finale since has been able to do that.

To me the turning point for Shining Armor and Cadance was the birth of Flurry Heart. They had so much unused potential until that point but her birth reduced these two to almost nothing else but parenthood. They couldn’t even spend a single afternoon away from her without breaking down. That was used for comedic effect but unfortunately it reinforced that issue.
 
About one of the only exceptions to that was the Shining x Twilight fight for the sibling supreme

What, you expect a trail, a jail sentence or anything that actually indicates theres a functioning legal and justice system and not just a series of dictatorial commands that go “Say sorry and we’ll forgive everything. If you don’t, we get to fuck you over any way we like”?

You know, i had this idea of the Princesses burying the statue so they could get it back if they felt like trying to reform them in the future and avoid the possibility of some sucker that wanted to take revenge on them accidentally freeing them.

Mainly the second reason. All three showed they were past the point of redemption. It’s kind of weird now seeing cute art of Chrysalis knowing how vicious she turned out to be.

I seriously don’t get why people are complaining that those 3 didn’t get redeemed. They were in no position to be redeemed, had little to no redeeming qualities whatsoever (I think Tirek is the more sympathetic of the trio given his past), and they were willing to kill the heroes without a second thought. ‘She’s just a kid’ is not an excuse for murder and treason.

Meanwhile, Cozy could have been helped if the mane six hadn’t thrown her aside and Discord hadn’t enabled her to keep being evil.
