Huh, must’ve misspelled it.

I have a fondness for episodes where Trixie pushes Starlight’s buttons, so I mostly liked this one.
 
That said… (sigh) Of fucking course she made Sunburst the new Vice Headmare (no, he doesn’t get a title change, sorry) without him having to prove anything about why he’s a good fit for it. Yeah, shit like this is why I don’t care for Sunburst. Also, it was way too convenient for Starlight that Octavia and Dr. Whooves at the last minute decided that they didn’t want the job after all. Otherwise, she would have been forced into making a difficult decision and there was no way she could have managed to justify either to herself or to them why Trixie or Sunburst should get the position instead. But nope, difficult decision averted! How wonderfully convenient.
 
Also, Trixie is about as unfit for the job of guidance counselor as Starlight was…so I guess she’ll do fine. I mean, this is all just a crapshoot, anyway.
 
Pretty good episode overall, though.

Is Horse-Shoe In considered one of the best episodes of the season because it’s genuinely great, or is it just one of the best episodes of an underwhelming season?
 
Horse Shoe-In would be considered a middling episode in say, S7.

Based around an outdated concept for an episode requiring characters to act as who they were and not as who they currently are: Nah
 
Expeditiously closed off a loose end in a character and/or story arc without putting in more thought than the bare minimum: If you consider the ending, maaaaaybe?
 
It kinda-sorta fits one of the two “themes” of S9 while managing to be entertaining still. I’d put it above average, but not top tier.

I liked the episode, but the ending was really underwhelming.
 
After everything that happened, making Sunburst the vice head pony seemed like a last minute decision than something built up and foreshadowed. He just comes out of nowhere.
 
Trixie becoming the new counsoler was pretty cool though.

Yep, difference couldn’t be more night and day between S6 and S9 Starlight, lol. So much more… responsibility.
 
(Also, S6 Starlight quite possibly wouldn’t have brought up the concern about Flurry Heart, like Starlight did here)

For what was probably Starlight (and Trixie’s) last focus episode it really didn’t feel like a send-off but something that should have aired like a season earlier.

Sunburst also mentioned that Flurry Heart is starting to grow up.
 
Wonder if that means we’ll ever see her go on from infant to toddler.
