If Sombra would still be around, then I’d agree. But with those 3, who can’t do a single thing right, without making everyone else getting an idiot ball, it’s not.

It was pretty much outright stated it happened so Grogar didn’t find out they left the lair behind his back, possibly resulting in Grogar blowing his head off.
 
Longer horns gained off of stolen magic is a blatant appearance change, and he could easily know why.

It’s not like Grogar has all seeing ball that can spy on everyone in equestria or something. He surely won’t notice that 3 out of 4 creatures living in his cave went missing.

Can we just stop this right now before things get out of hand and just discuss the episode?

I mean, Tirek was contained around 1,000 years, until Cerberus left his post, which possibly coincided with that Bugbear getting out. (He escaped in the S2 episode “It’s About Time”)

Myself, I’m betting he knows about their plan, knows they have the bell, and is just playing along until the final assault.

I give it an even chance their plan works. I think there’s also a good chance that their plan is Grogar’s plan: he admits that he was severely weakened by his earlier defeat, he might be trying to enable others to do what he can’t, thus creating his world of fear- even if it means he dies.
 
It’s also possible that his counter-plan that they showed will be him switching sides, but I doubt that.

I think the same way as you do, but that makes them seem like a bunch of idiots for beliving that he doesn’t know about thier scheeming. As I said after frenemies. The idiot ball is in the game. Ethier all 3 get it, beliving that they can fool Grogar, or he has it, for not noticing thier deception. I’d much rather have Grogar be the silly one, because it’s much less of a loose on a characters.
 
If the trio are the ones being played, then you are essentially retconing 2 of the Greatest Enemies M6 has ever had into a bunch of air heads.

I mean, do you not think Chrysalis is overly conceited in her opinion of her own abilities? It was her idea in the first place to backstab him.

Ya, and that makes the trio look extreamly dumb, while also not really making Grogar into a “smarter character” due to how obvious the deception is. Also, I doubt he can do shit to them besides his magical bondage gear.

He can blow up walls. I doubt Cozy’s supple filly body could withstand that. Unless Ponies are made of adamantium. (which they might be)
 
He could turn her into a red smear and a memory.

You know what would be an incredible twist? If Cozy Glow was in cahoots with Grogar. We know she’s kissing up to him to get on his good side, and her whole thing is manipulation. Getting the bell is an effort she led. What if she’s trying to get Chrysi and Tirek out of the way by betraying them to Grogar, who knows all about their plan?

I’m not saying he has to reveal it now. I’m saying he should give us (the viewers) a hint to what is going on. Because he hasn’t done shit ever since he first appeared.

You are right, and I don’t like it. It doesn’t fit the character of a mastermind who beat Celestia and almost enslaved whole Equestria TWICE.

I think that those three are going to bring the Windigos back into Equestria with their future actions.

I mean, they are all easy to manipulate into attacking the Mane 6, I feel that’s the best angle to take because the alternative is “Ancient super-villain is a complete idiot”, which I really don’t want to see again.
 
He might not be strong now, but once he grabs the bell, all bets are off. There’s probably a good reason why he didn’t immediately cut to the chase and yank it from them the moment is arrived in the lair…. hopefully.
