Because a lot of early ideas were kind of racist - see also the buffalo. And did you know the Diamond Dogs were originally gangster-style “Diamond Dawgs”?
 
If you mean how she’s stuck around, probably because making her disappear would be even more awkward.

I think other species should also be able to have cutie marks. Maybe hybrids gain it thru their pony lineage? The gods of this universe truly are biased =P

But really, any kind of racial magic or abilities are biased. But they’re also part of what makes the setting interesting.

I just noticed an error in The Ending of the End, haha.
 
After Twilight shields herself, Celestia, and Luna from Cozy Glow’s blast, you hear Luna say “Ready, sister?”
 
However, the animation shows Celestia talking, not Luna. Oops.

I never noticed that. Not the only voice mix-up in the episode, Hyper Sonic had the wrong model throughout the whole episode (and consistently, too), which is why I put Season 9 tied with Season 1 under “low production values”…

No, I think the comic with King Zebra in it was still official.

I think the comics also had Queen Parabola, an alicorn zebra. And let’s not forget, gargoyles are canon, since Scorpan was shown, albeit, in a scrapbook style.

Donkeys got absolutely nothing. Cows were shown to be sapient but also got nothing. Didn’t the movie confirm hippos to be sapient? Or was it just a gag? I guess what I really want is similar world, with unicorns and centaur demons but also a variety of unique and interesting species, based on real animals from our world and creatures from myths and legends but combining into new & amazing hybrids. And an epic story to go with it. Mlp’s aim was wasn’t to do this however so I guess I’m just a madman…..

It’s funny because the “hippo” in hippogriff - or hippopotamas - means “horse”! So maybe she meant them to go to Saddle Arabia in the first place?
 
Also, didn’t a real Queen of the Hippos turn up in a credits gag?

So where was Grogar’s lair supposed to be? Was it ever said?

Can’t remember - but I do remember it was in Between Dusk and Dawn.

Found it, the map Celestia was reading in the chicken scene, so it’s most likely in that forest, whatever forest that may be.
