Twilight knows her fight against Starlight would be eternal, so she offers a Starlight a future about friendship and confidence. Starlight understood her revenge was only to see Twilight suffering, cause all alter line has disastrous consequences. And like we see, Starlight wasn’t in any time taking the control (Maybe the wasteland one,it was Daybreaker or absolute Starlight mindset “Nopony has talents”) Starlight is weak against a lot creatures and some ponies. Like I said Starlight redemption was a Twilight bet and a Starlight reward cause lacks of a several punishment if princesses and the remane5 werent real witnesses about travel time and of course, Starlight making a lot of crazy magic witl Twilight only being a mom helicopter. Really Twilight suffers more than Starlight by not apply a real justice.

It was actually mentioned by a member of staff or something over 7 months ago, that if starlight was an element, she would be the element of forgiveness.

IIRC, Meghan’s exact answer was, “The Element of Forgive– Glimmerness.” So it was pretty clearly a tongue-in-cheek answer.

But what sense does that make? She didn’t have to forgive anyone. Is she the element of forgiveness, because whatever shit she pulls off, everyone will forgive her immediately?

Because she was willing to show Chrysalis and Juniper the same understanding and compassion she was shown, even before the latter was stopped? That, and between Trixie, Discord, Thorax(before he was foreign royalty), and possibly someone I’m forgetting, she’s generally willing to let the past lie and get along with Equestria’s outcasts, even non-villainous weirdos like Maud.
Edit: Not sure if Ember counts, but I think they got along well enough.

Good god, looking at this thread is like visiting Hiroshima in 1947. Also, I was subscribed to this even though I never posted on here, huh…

Aren’t a lot of problems self-made? That seems to count as a mark in favor of her.

Recently, I listened to a 2-part podcast on serial killer Clifford Olson, the late Beast of British Columbia, a psychopath, thus a sociopath, and a narcissist. I knew that sociopathy and psychopathy were related (by antisocial personality disorder), and had known their differences at one point, so my later inability to recall these eventually prompted a refresh.
I noticed that some sociopathic behaviors appeared in Starlight Glimmer. I wondered, and soon believed she could’ve been one until reading that, though less severely than psychopaths, sociopaths lack empathy, though they may have a weak conscience. As well, both may be unrehabilitable without childhood treatment. By her track record, Starlight has clearly made rehabilitative progress, and she has (certainly gained) a sense of empathy, but these don’t negate her other sociopathic behaviors. (Can it be argued that she had such a puerile mental/emotional stability that she got her “treatment” as a “child?”)
My focus turned directly toward Starlight. Sifting through some bits of bitter hatred, I found a take that pointed toward Starlight exhibiting symptoms of a different disorder. I looked this disorder up to verify and determined the assessment to be valid. So, I think that Starlight could have (had) tendencies of APD & BPD. Psychopathy, though, or at least high-functioning sociopathy, seems a reasonable description of the the pegasus some see as a response to the Starlight criticisms, Miss “No Empathy Cocoa” Cozy Glow.

I oonly see Cozy Glow like an answer for Starlight case, is about “No redemption (yet)” and different villain from unicorn or a millenial monster. But if we talk about power or elements to achieve evilness, Starlight had a lot of advantage.

Personally I think she simply lacks Social Empathy. She cares about others and wants what’s best for them (hence why she tends to get offended when her motives are questioned), but she fails to understand them, and tends to assume they want what she wants. This also means that more complex, emotionally driven behavior confuses and distresses her, hense why she often feels the need to force people to be more logical and predicable.
I stand by high functioning autism.

Which is amusing since Starlight is slightly complex in her own right. She probably wouldn’t empathize with herself.

Inasmuch as we can do armchair diagnoses on tiny magical cartoon equines, that sounds rather plausible.
