Because Hasbro considers the 2017 Redesigns a light “Reboot” and a company will never put a big push to reboot a spin-off like they would a main series. Look at Rescue Bots Academy, just a sequel to the previous series.

Nick Confalone being the head writer and story editor.  
New default outfits.  
New formats.  
Focusing on main characters other than Sunset and Twilight.

Nothing is certain, reboot of EG wasn’t even mentioned in the leaks.  
If anything, they planned to continue the current series. reboot

Not just that, they completely reinvent the chracter or else Chris Hemsworth was gonna quit playing him after his contact is over. (He was tired of playing Thor being bland af)  
Now he is more than enthusiastic to return post-Avengers 4.  
Ragnarok and especially Infinity War made him a fan favorite.

Forgot to mention, “soft reboot” not just being mentioned in then new toyline.  
It’s in the leaked emails as well.

It annoys more than it should that, in the most recent CYOE episode (both in the description and the content itself) the CMCs are referred to as the Cutie Mark Crusaders when they were called the Canterlot Movie Club in a short last year.
 
It’s like, I thought that was a really clever workaround. And yet the staff didn’t seem to commit to it, at least not enough to make sure it’s consistent.
