The show has been better at making damage control after redemptions rather than making them good by the very beginning.

I feel that G5 will be a lot more sensible with how it handles redemption.

The best ones always come through strong follow-up - which is why this season was a bad time for them, and why one of Hasbro’s greatest crimes is blocking a Diamond Tiara episode.

To be perfectly hones, here in Mexico after constant fightings and war during the so called independence war, the viceroy Juan Ruiz De Apodaca decided to give amnesty and full pardon to all the rebels, and BTW, the war was full of what nowadays could be considered war crimes. The thing worked out and the rebels never ever rebelled anyway.
 
So the whole “easy redemption” or for a more neutral and historical accurate “easy forgiving” is surprisingly realistic.

It’s that kind of “twist thinking” that led to the Grogar twist - except while that somewhat damaged an already unreliable character, this would destroy the lead and every bit of meaning the show ever had with her.

That kind of plot twist would be on the level of “y’see, Tirek was ackchyually doing the ponies a huge favor by draining the magic out of all of them,” in terms of pure shittiness.

If they had revealed Twilight had been evil the whole time, that would have been it. I straight up would have just threw my hands up and decided to consider Season 9 non-canon, I don’t care if I don’t have the official power to do that, no twist that utterly stupid deserves to exist.

Oh, I know nobody sane would ever try to do that and Hasbro wouldn’t allow it. Just saying if by some twisted act of God (Or probably Satan) it had happened, that would have been my reaction.
