Quite frankly confirming anything over twitter instead of giving explanations in the show is just lazy and just tells me they never thought anything through.
 
What else would you expect out of Jim Miller? It’s his directing style and always has been.

Show canon isn’t addressing that whatsoever, so… you can dismiss that because it has no evidence in a headcanon.

Considering Celestia and Luna have shown no angst over immortality in the series whatsoever, kinda doubt it.

There really would be no conceivable reason for Luna to stop actually doing dreamwalking stuff after retirement, aside from “she can’t do it,” an implication that doesn’t really exist.
 
Maybe less often than she did on the throne, but still. No reason to think she stopped.
 
Those two can say, travel throughout the world, do adventurous things throughout it if they wished, from time to time. Maybe some superhero-like stuff.

Immortality doesn’t inherently suck, unless you’re in a position where you wish you can die because you’re endlessly floating in nothingness because the universe is dying, but that’s probably the case for nobody in this setting, since they can all die.

I don’t think she’s ever wanted to be anything other than an ordinary pony. Remember how in season 4 where she kept insisting that she’s not more special than anyone else?

Becuse she was overwhelmed by her sudden promotion. By the end, she had embraced her role as the Princess of Friendship. I don’t know if runnig Equestria is what she’s best suited for (i’d have left her with the School) but I’m sure she’ll manage.
 
And in any case, what has that got to do with immortality?

It feels like some people have Stockholm’s Syndrome with not being ageless on a subconscious level, because they know they’ll never have it, when the grass just might be as green on the other side (yes, I know it’s “greener on the other side” and what it means, but bear with me here)
 
I don’t think it would be indescribably awesome to be ageless by any means, but I think it would be like life, but without the “start going downhill after a certain point in the physical department” part, from the losses and the high points. It’s probably a lot better when you have a few constants in the world around you, like others living a lot longer as well, which could very well be the case for Twilight, between Discord, the other alicorns, naturally very long-lived species (like dragons), and a few powerful unicorns using age spells to avert aging (which do canonically exist).

Oh, I understand the purpose of accepting death - for a long time, and even mostly now, there really isn’t much we can do about it. But when we imagine those free of it, we should see them as aspiration figures more often.

Starlight has no end goal if Twi doesn’t quit. I just think, thematically, and in terms of her character, nothing fits Starlight’s combo of leadership skills, lack of personal ambition, and boundless respect for Twilight like taking over her school does.

There are also cases in which the drawback of the loved one dying is removed by them becoming immortal as well. There can even be a Society of Immortals where even your neighbors and coworkers live forever.
Besides, in some universes, death is more boring than life could ever be, or is too terrifying to consider. Basically, rather than Sour Grapes griping, the immortal character decides to see the upside of immortality and enjoys it. It may not be a bed of roses, but life can be good. Because really, how can life ever get boring if it’s always changing?

She accepted it because she had to, because it was ultimately what Celestia wanted for her life and Twilight had no option to refuse.
 
Just like how Celestia forced her into ruling the nation right as Twilight had finally found herself a life career, which she did all on her own– the only thing she was ever proactive about.

The best way that’s I would handle that, is that such immortals would “grow up”, into adults and then stop completely. Possibly with such aging being slower then for mortels but still.
 
J.R.R. Tolkens elves were arguably this. Being essentially immortal, growing up as normal, and then when they were ready they sailed off to the island that was basicly their afterlife of sorts.

Oh, I have feelings about Celestia pushing Twilight around. But one thing I won’t hold against her is her immortalising her - if not for the horribly reckless method she used, that is.
