rest in peace, the Camaro has become my least favorite pony car, but I will still miss it. We will get a new Camaro EV when GM copies off of Dodge and Ford’s EV’s I am sure…

Another in a long line of bad decisions made by GM.
They handicapped the Camaro so it couldn’t be better than the Corvette, didn’t advertise the car, and refused to address the visibility and ergonomics issues everyone complained about.

I’ll probably never go driving off road, but I like the new Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus GX. They’re very solid, purposeful vehicles. They’re not fake like all these crossovers with plastic cladding. Both the Toyota and Lexus are very capable. But they’re not just rough and tumble 4x4s, they have some luxury too. I would not mind owning either one if I could afford it.

I don’t like the RAV4 personally. I think it’s mediocre. I’m just glad my parents don’t have to pay for a new vehicle in this crazy market or keep paying about $1,000 a year to the shitty local dealership to keep the Subaru running.
I hope you have a backup car while the Alfa is in the shop.

sent my car to a workshop to have gear position sensor changed. I’m a bit worried because they never worked on an Alfa before

My family got a free car for Christmas! My uncle gave my parents his Toyota RAV4 and I drove it home. It has very low miles and is in pretty good shape. There’s not much to say about how it drives. The RAV4 is an appliance. It’s very average and not particularly comfortable. I found I had to keep it in sport mode because the gutless engine is too slow for highway merging in normal or eco mode.
I’m glad my parents can finally get rid of their old junk Subaru. If it were my car though, I would trade in the RAV4 and get a used truck for a few thousand more.

The no fuel part is also the cause of engine braking, because air gets sucked in and exhausted without combustion, all consuming the kinetic energy of the car.

The only way to save fuel with a manual transmission is to shift into neutral and drive the car while it is in motion.
That’s actually both uneconomical and dangerous. 1. because the engine and wheel are disconnected, you lose engine braking, which means you have less braking power and your brake wears out faster. 2. when you go into neutral, the engine quickly goes to idle, which burns fuel, but if you’re in gear there won’t be any fuel into the system because the engine doesn’t need any fuel to rev because of inertia of the whole car.

In fact I think electronic throttle bodies on smart selectable transmission running on eco mode probably fully open the throttle when you press over a certain amount, pressing further just tells the ECU you want more power so downshifting occurs.
That’s just my guess, if not, I have no idea how automatics would even approach manuals in fuel economy.

It’s pretty much impossible to keep an engine over 80% loading with an automatic transmission so fuel economy will always suck in comparison to shifting yourself according to bsfc.

Driving manual was never taught in school and I’ve never known anyone with a manual car, so it’s not a skill I ever had to pick up. I wouldn’t mind learning to drive manual for a fun car, but for just commuting back and forth to work and going shopping an automatic is fine.

And there are people whose driving “stule” cannot be comprehended by the control logic of automatic transmission.

I can’t imagine how people can suck at automatic transmission
They forget there are only two pedals and hit the brake pedal when they try to shift. I’ve heard of someone crashing that way.
