I can see what you mean, but right now I definitely wouldn’t say that Sunny is ‘overpowered’ or anything like that. She still needs her friends in a very big way, just as Twilight did before she was turned into an Alicorn. But having her powers slowly manifest over time, while Sunny herself learns how to be a proper leader, would be a great way to develop her character and not make her permanent Alicorn abilities feel rushed.

Basically it’s a balancing act: you don’t want to give the other characters too little screen time, but at the same time you also want to develop Sunny as a character as well.

Imagine Sunny Starscout as Superman or in this case Superwoman.

I feel like they are similar. Altruistic ponies who represent hope and optimism in a cynical world.

I wonder how many fans are like me and never gave TYT proper consideration due to being put off by its art style. From all accounts, the reviews in my corner of the horse world are that it’s like Pony Life except actually watchable (especially if the art doesn’t bother you).

IMO, Sunnycorn being a recurrent theme in the series proper would be G5 blowing its load too early. It made for a good climactic scene to end the movie, but it runs the risk of making Sunny the only protagonist who matters if the “big” episodes all have an element of “let’s get our Sunnycorn transformation to save the day” to them. Then again, my attraction to FiM was due to all the speculative sociology about all the other ponies who weren’t ever the pony of the week (whether protagonist or villain).

If they have more scenes of Alicorn Sunny, I am sure that will help inspire artists.

Though I should mention that I did personally enjoy Tell your Tale. While it is short, I feel like it is a nice tie-in while we wait for the full length series to arrive. It has a lot of fun moments, and does help to build up the various characters as well similar to what the comics do.

Perhaps TYT doesn’t inspire new fan art as much as the movie. Let’s hope the series changes that in September.

Sometimes you gotta think outside the booru. Look for Sunny art on other sites then upload it to Derpi (if it’s not DNP). There’s lots of stuff out there that’s not on this site, if you know where to look.

For now, I have this one image to share. It will help keep this place semi-interesting.

Those are some lovely drawings of Sunny!

One sad thing to note is that the number of images featuring Sunny seem to be declining. I don’t know if there is just not enough things to inspire artists or bronies are simply losing interest in Sunny, but I can’t find nearly as many images to post here as I used to. Which is a shame, because I love this forum and I want to keep it active for as long as I can.

I hope we get to see Sunny with physical wings and horn like this in the future. I can understand why she has her augmented wings and horn currently, but I think it would be a nice level of progression for her.

For whatever bizarre reason, Sunny’s pose in that one has me imagining a scenario where she visits IRL Earth and needs to be fed a tube of Ivermectin as part of her pre-travel vaccinations.

Say what you want about the Make your Mark animation quality, but I really like the way they animated Sunny’s expressions. She always seems to be very emotive, as seen in this short GIF.

Leon Kay is indeed a fantastic artist. Hopefully they will make more drawings like this one of Sunny in the future, especially when the new series airs in September.

Leon Kay once again doing G5 some justice. I really can’t say enough good things about this artist.

Maybe the fact that she is more average than Twi is a reason why I prefer Sunny to Twi. For me Twi was never all that relatable due to her intellect. Sunny, on the other hand, does a lot of things that I do on a daily basis. Combine that with a selfless attitude, and you got a pony that I personally root for and want to see more of.

Also, some of these positives apply to Fluttershy, as well: much like Sunny she also treats everyone with kindness and lives a pretty simple life. Due to her kindness I have taken a liking to her over time.

I think Twilight.

Sunny is adorable but I don’t know if she’s as adorkable. She’s doesn’t seem to be quite an egghead like Twilight. Sunny is more social and not as awkward in normal interactions with ponies. Sunny is more of an average girl.

Hidden on my feed because of the Valentine’s Day tag. Never really liked that holiday as it continually reminds me that I am single. But I must say that is one of the better Valentine’s Day drawings to he uploaded here, not just because it has Sunny but also because it doesn’t show any TMI situations. Thanks so much for sharing this with me, Pinto Bean! Never would have seen it without that.

Futuristic setting makes sense, considering EqG had more advanced tech than Equestria did at the time, suggesting that technology advances faster in the human realm than in the pony realm. It could be fascinating to see what a hyper-advanced version of Equestria would look like.

As for what Sunny would be like, well, that I don’t know. I never actually got to see what Sci-Twi was like, outside of images that were uploaded to this site. But I can imagine certain aspects of Sunny, like her drive to improve the lives of others around her, would remain the same. Maybe she would have a different career, though, like making sandwiches instead of smoothies.

But it should be noted that the animation style would be consistent with the TV series. After all, the original EqG used the same Flash animation that the main series used. So it would make sense for a refresh of EqG to also use CGI animation just like the ‘Make your Mark’ series.

I wonder if it would have a semi futuristic vibe. Like maybe there would be hovering cars or holograms.

The question would be what Sunny would be like. Sci-Twi was somewhat different form Pony Twilight.
