Fair enough. Banjo I was excited for, but the other fighters not as much. They’re cool and all, I just don’t play those games. Though it has gotten me interested in Persona.
 
On the chainsaw: it’s Nintendo. They’ll find a way. They could have it be the pixelated one from the 90s Dooms if it has to be. And I do think Doomguy is a serious contender for SSB, DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal are on/will be on Switch, and it’s an old series with a legacy. My second long-term guess is Geralt.

The chainsaw might be kinda violent, but it could still be done cartoonishly, like as a multi-hit weapon, and watching fighters vibrate with it could be amusing.
 
Though, honestly if Doomguy came out, I’d be as excited for him, as you are about “another sworder.” In fact, honestly Banjo is the only DLC fighter I got excited for as honestly I’ve never played the games the others are from, but admittedly they still look cool, and fun. SSB got me into other series I used to not be into, so I see nothing wrong with experiencing new characters from series I never tried.
 
I admit, I’m more excited about the Cuphead & Rabbids Mii costumes. (The Cuphead one looks very convincing, like Sans.)

I’d complain about Mario having 10, or how most Pokemon are gen 1, but I don’t even play SSB anymore so with means little to me. Still,ng I like FE, son people should really just shut up and let people enjoy things.

Well, Doomguy also has the chainsaw and stuff. He could be a close-range ranged character, which doesn’t really exist, and would be big and slow- the only other ranger like that being Snake. There’s a place for him in Smash Bros.

As I said in the SSB thread, SSB also has “too many” fist-fighters/martial artists, (Terry, Ryu, Ken, Falcon, ect.) non-human characters, (Banjo, Isabelle, the Star Fox characters, Pokémon, ect.) gunners/weapon/technology users, (Joker, Bayonetta, Snake, StarFox again, ect.) magic users. (Hero, Robin, Zelda, Bayonetta, ect.) So there’s still more variety then sworders.
 
And Doomguy would basically just be another gunner/weapon user, but Rayman might be kinda unique, even if he’s from the non-human/brawler categories. (Maybe the Rabbid Miis are foreshadowing?)

Personally, I’d love a character like Doomguy/Doom Slayer because we need more interesting ranged types. Or Rayman. Because Rayman.

Same could be said for the Zelda characters, considering we have 3 Links, and Ganon is still basically a bigger Captain Falcon.
 
In fact, ironically, in regards to the “SSB has too many sword characters” complaints, Ganon now has a sword, because people complained he didn’t have one.

It would appear Byleth fights quite differently yes (he/she can even use other weapons).

More FE? Sure, why not, we’ve had plenty of characters from other series. Just so long as this one isn’t a clone of one we already have, like most of the FE fighters are.

I get the feeling that maybe I should’ve just started a new file in Astral Chain. Because I remember precisely fuck all about how to play this game.

Huh, well color me surprised, no wonder I liked Charlotte’s voice in the JP version, she’s voiced by Sumire Morohoshi, who voiced Emma from the Promised Neverland and Tiki from Fire Emblem.
