The most hyped up episode in the whole series, A Canterlot Wedding, had 475,000 viewers on its premier. So yeah, if an Apple Bloom episode got more views, the show is definitely getting more viewers over time.

The 80’s are coming back in a big way, wouldn’t surprise me if they eventually did.
 
I’ve noticed a lot of the hate for the fandom that seems to come from Tumblr comes from a certain degree of resentment. Most fandoms have Tumblr as their “home,” and it’s where their “culture” is formed. MLP is essentially a scarlet letter on Tumblr, a running joke for every other fandom. In reality, it’s jealousy and resentment that mean old 4chan directs its fandom rather than them.

That’s what Hasbro Studios wanted them to do from literally day one. Well, that and almost complete creative control of projects.
 
Want some fun statistics? It’s only current up to the episode before Maud Pie, but:
 
“Somepony to Watch Over Me” got 625k viewers on its premiere. The LPS episode that almost immediately followed? 362k. And that was a close week. Most of the time it’s just straight blown out.
 
And nothing even comes close to touching those two in the top ten 99% of the time.

@Itsthinking They probably would have if they’d picked Jem over Care Bears. They apparently missed the thing about the songs being important. (I know I’m still waiting on it!)  
Also, random MSNBC lulz. Some Ronan Farrow anchorman guy went to Bronycon and did a story on bronies. He drops this immediately after a srs realpolitik segment talking about possible reignition of proxywar with Russia over the sanctions. He even mentioned the 4chan connection and /mlp/!

Novelty wears off, so things don’t look as awesome as they were in the beginning. Nevertheless, the quantity and quality of fanwork definitely increased a lot. The show still gradually gets more viewers. Everything is still progressing fine.

At least they took one right step and place the focus on media instead of toys.

Hub Network tried three times to make lightning strike again. First they thought, “Oh, it must be 80’s nostalgia, we should relaunch another 80s franchise.”
 
It wasn’t that. (Care Bears)
 
Then they thought “That’s it, it’s got to be the studio that makes it and the VAs, that’s the ticket.”
 
It wasn’t. (LPS, which isn’t made by the same part of DHX that makes FiM for the most part, by the way)
 
Then they got panicky. “Uh, is it being insanely controversial and getting talked about on a bunch of social media sites for being unusual in concept?” (SheZow, lasted one season)
 
It wasn’t that either.
 
Everyone from top to bottom is thoroughly confused about what happened that made FiM different. It’s mainly because their understanding of anonymous Internet culture is minimal at best. (see the meme-centered LPS episode)
 
And then they bought rights to more 90s sitcoms.

Not really. She’s grown closer with her friends and become less obsessed with her dream as it gets closer.
 
It’s the same as Rarity’s, except Rarity’s happened sooner.

In Hurricane Fluttershy, Dash wanted to see greatness out of her friends, the Pegasi she was leading, cause she believed in them and it was their duty this year. Competitiveness and wanting to impress the Wonderbolts was CERTAINLY part of it initially…
 
.. but the kicker is that when everyone came down with the flu, she threw all the competition stuff to the side as if it was nothing and did her best to not only get the job done right, but also help one of her best friends achieve inner strength. If the competitiveness was her biggest motivation to begin with, she wouldn’t have bounced back leading the team to their duty so easily.
 
That’s character development. She’s had some of the most positive and dramatic character development within the series, and that’s saying something considering they all have had a lot of character development.

I’d say s2 was the high point, due to the enormous amount of fan-projects released (though a few had been started during s1)  
Nearly everything started towards the end of s2 or within s3 has completely fallen apart, though.

I’m not trying to underestimate AJ, she is quite capable of leadership, I just think that she’s not the best choice for leading ALL of them DIRECTLY. She doesn’t know how to utilize the skills of everyone on their team, and her forte isn’t solving complex problems.
 
AJ’s leadership skills ARE necessary for the team, but more upon laying the foundations of the base then forming the head, if you know what I mean. That’s the kind of leadership qualities she has that makes her so respected, her unyielding, stalwart personality. She has her moments of doubt and overstubborness, but overall her being brave and true to herself, that sticking-to-her-guns attitude, is why she’s the Element of Honesty and the perfect pillar to the team.
 
To go back to an earlier comment on the Royal Guard Captain, I think Applejack has the best fitting qualities to that very specific type of leadership position if you ask me.

I didn’t mind Spike’s absence, but it still seemed odd, given that Pinkie seems likely to actually try to include him, and that a scene took place in the library.
 
On the leadership conversation…
 
I think that Applejack is being underrated. She actually seems to have the most experience as a leader, and is well respected by everyone in town.
 
Sure, she’s made some bad calls, but so have all the other Manes.

I actually have a sort of perverse love for PSAs, especially the anti drugs ones which I can tell you are funny as hell if you watch them while high.

I think it’s mainly because of the “Lightning can’t strike twice” thing.
 
If you notice, popular fads only stay popular during their first run. After the first season or so, they just fall out and the craze dies. Ever wonder why Pokemon wasn’t as popular after Gen 1, or how the Power Rangers slowly began to lose its steam after the first three seasons? Or how about the recent Twitch Plays Pokemon?
 
Same thing with this. By the time Season 2 rolled around, regardless of fans or executives, it was obvious that the steam it had in Season 1 was lost.

But the moment she heard that she doesn’t have enough wingpower to break the record, instead of trying to find a way to do that, she just dropped the idea and focused on providing water for Cloudsdale.
 
As for Dragonshy, she does have a point. Bringing a pony who was afraid of her shadow to handle a dragon didn’t sound good. Plus, it’s the beginning of the series, she was more stupid back then. All of them were.

Yeah, we know she will be the leader because she’s the one picked as the main character in the beginning. But we are talking about a more sensible, realistic scenario.
