Dave Polsky was a God-Tier writer in Season Four.

In Power Ponies, we’re never given a reason for them to fix up the royal sisters’ old castle. The premise of them fixing it up is abandoned, and it never comes up again. It only happens to fill four and a half minutes, and so that Spike can feel unappreciated, and then an isekai story comes out of nowhere for no other reason than to give Spike a chance to be useful. More than five minutes of the episode’s runtime is dedicated to dumping exposition for characters that will never come up again. You could explain what these characters can do in thirty seconds, and most of the powers are just things the characters could already do. Then the magic comics thing never comes up again. You could cut it down to five minutes and not lose a thing. You’re right. I do just arbitrarily think G5 does things better.

No issues with pacing or a lack of substance here. It’s just a massive coincidence that the most replayed part is two minutes from the end, and that the rest of the episode is a dead zone.

Not sure how, given that Suited for Success and Simple Ways are both G4 episodes.

I’ll be honest, I don’t actually hate the show. But when it became the replacement main show, that’s when it started. And I’m refusing to watch it until G5 ends, there’s an actual new main show or if I can watch it somewhere else than Netflix and YouTube. I’ll watch MYM 10 more times if I have to.

It’s harder to trace the mail with the right moves, Coco would be physically unable to help so this leaves Rarity with her sister’s help.

When you’re trying to criticize the objectivity of someone else’s review, it’s just the littest bit hypocritical to state that you haven’t watched the episode yourself, and are going solely off your own negative biases about the show to try to call them out.

Where else could I watch it besides the official sources? Surprisingly, that site thinks TYT is so bad in their eyes, none of them were apparently even worth archiving. Even the comics starting from Kenbucky Roller Derby onwards weren’t stored there.

Ya know? G5 could do episodes like Daring Doubt and The Cutie Re-Mark down to the premise, climax and resolution and you’ll still praise it for being better simply because “it’s G5 doing it, so it has to be better” is how I’m seeing it.

I vaguely remembered a partial idea I had for an Equestria Girls Fanfic:

For some reason the villain is trying to pick a fight with the Human 7, but it’s not working so they try a different tactic.
Villain [at Sweetie Belle]: Hey you! Your outfit is not at all flattering.
Rarity [Ready to throw hands]: Why you uncouth… [Held back by Applejack.]
Sweetie Belle: I don’t know, maybe they’re right.
Rarity: [Gasp] 🎶 Makeover! 🎶 I’ve had my eye on this lovely little–
Applejack: Uh, Rarity?
Rarity: Oh, [Eyeroll] I suppose…

So there are very good reasons that Luna is more popular.

Even in the very beginning, people found the story of Nightmare Moon to be oddly one-sided and self-serving, and a lot of fans assumed that there was another side to it. Then there’s A Bird in the Hoof. The Cakes are extremely nervous, so Celestia pulls a quick prank, but the moment doesn’t end with her having built rapport with The Cakes. There’s also the part where Twilight thinks that Celestia will throw Fluttershy in the dungeon. It’s funny, but it’s also strange that she thinks that.

We didn’t know anything about Luna until Season Two, so we had to fill in the blanks. In Luna Eclipsed, Luna is this loveable dork, and despite a series of mishaps, including cancelling Nightmare Night, she somehow manages to do a better job of building rapport with her subjects.

Despite being Twilight’s mentor, I don’t think Celestia gives Twilight any advice that isn’t just an empty platitude. Compare that to Luna, who has offered life-changing guidance to The CMC.

And then there’s the big one. Luna embarks on this huge redemption quest where she tried to help others avoid making the same mistakes she did. She feels so guilty about turning into Nightmare Moon that she created a nightmare creature to punish herself, and when it gets out of control, she tracks it down and helps capture it.

The decision to release Discord and send him after Tirek caused more harm than anything Nightmare Moon did. Celestia doesn’t feel any guilt or remorse. She doesn’t apologize or reflect on her decision. In fact, it’s like she’s forgotten about the whole ordeal by the end of the episode.

Celestia started out as “a bit off” and went downhill from there. Luna started out as endearing, and got even better over time.
