I personally like the story of how G4 was made much more than the story of G5. It’s always more interesting to me when things have largely gone to shit and a big company pulls a “What could go wrong” and ends up with more than they bargained for. But, I’m more on “the industry” side of the show.

From the perspective of the show itself, I’ll haven’t seen anything that blew my mind in G5 as much as the “Hallway Gag Without A Hallway” that G4 did in the episode where Fluttershy accidentally ‘killed’ Philomena - complete with a Benny Hill style Yackity Sax chase.
The only thing that was missing was Jackie Gleason sipping on bourbon and mugging “How sweet it is!”
Also, G4 had more fan interaction. It was a very different era pre-Covid when you could have a convention with just a couple hundred people in a hotel by the airport, with actual top flight actors coming and hanging out with fans in the local pub or at the rave. It was a great era, and a HUGE amount of fun.
I do enjoy G5 though - it’s got some really interesting stuff going on, and is also doing a good job exploring some pretty tricky story lines. But it feels like it has more “adult supervision”.
So - I liked the lack of adult supervision and total rave quality G4 had, and with G5 I’m enjoying watching Hasbro try to take control of their product again and how they are rebuilding their approach to a global market for MLP.
G4 was very hard to turn into a global product. G5 is fascinating to watch because of how it is better suited for global distribution - but, personally I enjoyed G4 more because I actually could hang out with the people making it, and the whole “behind the scenes” of it was more accessible.
Which is your favorite so far? Or were other generations better? I know some people who really loved G1, and some who really enjoyed G3.

I’m currently re-reading Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. It’s easily one of my favorite stories of all time.
It’s fascinating to see his politics change through the length of the story. He rages from one thing to another, and as he ages through the telling of the story the narrative gets more and more intense, until it kind of “snaps” and then everything falls into place.
I recreated (with my own flawed hand and inadequate understanding of quills) one of my favorite scenes out of the entire story:
It’s literally been on my cube wall, and my guiding light, at every single job I’ve ever had this century.

For me, I go in and out of the idea. I know I have to get a better schedule for myself. I do use the internet a bit too much at times.

Though I have learned the wonders of reading some books at night like on castles and battleships from my collection of picture books I got even from young childhood.

Discord and others operate at a scale where they don’t/can’t deal with the number of reports a “grey zone” would generate, and they have a strong financial incentive to not even bother in the first place. What other boorus do is not something we care about.
