Of course, this also raises the question of why she didn’t get the surgery as a filly when her condition first appeared (see: the flashback in “Parental Glideance” with her racing performance slipping as her eyes get further from normal). Either Equestria’s medical science had only just advanced to where they could attempt it, or her parents are negligent buttholes (much like Scootaloo’s - the way she was struggling with flying in “Flight to the Finish” implies that she hadn’t been diagnosed with anything that would keep her from flying, which in turn implies that she hadn’t seen a doctor despite being well past the age when an average pegasus would learn to fly).

In a way, it’s also because I do think fixing her view could mess up with her “muscle memory”. So many years with crossed eyes only to suddenly get that removed could mess up with her coordination just maybe.

To be fair, the hospital scenes in “Where the Apple Lies” show her having received corrective surgery (which didn’t seem to work too well). So it’s possible that she’d accept an effective remedy if it were offered. Though of course that doesn’t mean she’d respond positively to her having it thrust upon her without her consent.
