There are also teachers willing to learn gun skills to protect students from shooters if the need arises.

I understand that the United States is configured as a two-party system, right down to who gets seated in which caucus in the legislature and even how things like photocopiers are allocated in Congress - so much so that independents are forced to caucus with one party or the other or remain without a voice and often can’t even staff their office.
 
But the two party system is really a problem. Especially as they are now fraying to the point that their own leadership can’t get anything done with all the sub-sects in each party.

At one point I was registered as a Conservative, though as of now I’m registered as Independent… and have honestly become weary of the two party system. Personally I don’t completely agree or disagree with either side.
 
On gun control, this is my view on things. Acquiring possession of gun should very much be regulated, counting minimum age to use certain fire arms and training required. Perhaps also requiring a psychological evaluation.
 
Training also including properly keeping such weapons away from youth, who could either hurt themselves or others, and in preventing accidents. To keep them properly stored and locked away even to prevent theft.
 
Also, strict restrictions on the possession of a firearm from those with certain felonies and those with a history of violance. That if there’s record of misuse when it comes to guns, it can prevent one from owning a firearm for the rest of their life.
 
Finally strict penalties to those found in possession of fire arms not properly registered and without proper permits. As well towards those who buy and sell firearns illegally.

That person was an armed safety officer, a deputy, employed by the school. I am not aware that “the left” has a problem with that. I do know “the left” and many people also on “the right” do not like the idea of arming teachers, but I was not aware that “the left” had something against safety officers who are actual deputies.

Many conservatives are also in favor of doing that, including the leader of the Republican Party in the U.S. (although he did later back away from that under pressure). But its not just “the left”. This is something that many gun-owning conservatives also support.

21 to buy handguns. 18 for everything else. The left wants all guns to be 21 (a couple of states have already bumped them up to 21).

Ok, I’m still confused why you’re saying “The left has been pretty silent on that aspect of the shooting” because the shooter was under 21 and had a handgun? What are you expecting “the left” to do?

Are … are you a U.S. resident? If you are, do you not even know what the laws are where you live for ownership and possession of firearms?
 
Whatever your reason for not knowing what the laws in the U.S. are, please don’t state things like how old you have to be to buy a rifle in the U.S. as if you knew what the facts were.

You have to be 18 to buy a rifle in the United States, and in many states you can hunt with a rifle at the age of 12 if an adult is with you.

He is saying that the U.S. will fund and support totalitarian regimes as long as they help create a stable climate for investors and multinational corporations, thus it’s hypocritical for the US to criticize North Korea on the grounds of human rights. North Korea may be awful, but the reason the U.S. is hostile towards them is not because of their human rights abuses.

The good guy he referred to I think was a school resource officer. I don’t know what that is

Any rifle in the U.S. requires that you be 21 or older to buy. Pistols are a different matter entirely.

Also, why should anyone care that they were able to get a gun under 21? Was it illegal for them to do that where they are or something? Why should “the left” care about that?

So a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with one at a school. Said bad guy was under 21 but still managed to get a gun.  
The left has been pretty silent on that aspect of the shooting.
 
In other news: It’s none of the schools fucking business what a student does off campus in his free time.  
Sue their asses off.
