Twilight’s destiny was never to become a princess, that’s just step one. The friendship lessons and princessesing are to prepare her for something even worse than Discord that’s coming to Equestria. Her destiny is to fight that thing.

Sunset Shimmer had a rather rough fillyhood before studying magic. She originally studied magic for recognition and honor, but things didn’t turn out the way she wanted….and you know the rest…  
Sunset Satan was just a cruel alter ego of Sunset that grew with her frustration, greed , and resentment and became embodied when Sunset wore the crown. When she was defeated by the “Hair 6”’s Rainbow light, the evil was purged.
 
Sort of like Marik Ishtar.

Well, it seemed like The Last Unicorn, but now I’m not so sure.

Despite Luna’s power, she has the inability to gauge a opponent’s ability correctly.  
Luna has fought maybe battles before but due to this she has lost to everyone who is at least half as powerful as she is.  
Sombra was among those listed, it was Luna’s plan that they used to stop him, but because of her underestimating him, they lost the Crystal Empire. It is this guilt that is one of the things that caused her to become Nightmare Moon, since Luna has the inability to blame her failures on herself as well because of a massive ego.  
She actually got it in her head that it was all Celestia’s fault that Sombra was still able to win in the end because the main reason they tried to stop him was to save the Crystal Empire.

I like to think that, like the Greek gods, Celestia and Luna had many children over the centuries, but due to them being demi-gods, they all felt the need to go out on crazy-dangerous adventures. Many of them died on these adventures, and the rest died of old age.

In pre-unification times, there was once a terrible, ruinous war between the unicorns and the minotaurs, sparked by a tyrant whose name has been lost to history, stricken from the record by his successor, and is thus only known by the sobriquet “the Red Bull”.

Octavia and Vinyl Scratch are wacky mismatched room mates! True they absolutely hated each other at first, typical Odd Couple hijinks, in fact they hated each other enough for murder, but now they’re the best of friends! Vinyl just can’t drink coffee without a little arsenic in it, and Octavia finds that she just can’t get to sleep without disarming a booby trap cunningly hidden in her room. Its sort of a joke to them, the way Octavia will release venomous animals into Vinyl’s bed, or the way Vinyl will occasionally attack Octavia with an ax, its all a game!
 
Whenever they have guests, the guests usually leave in a bit of hurry. Vinyl still feels awful about accidentally serving a meal with a bunch of broken glass in it to a stallion friend of Octavia’s, but burying the occasional body deep in the Everfree has just brought them closer together.

I think Celestia just wanted to have a mother/daughter relationship with somepony, such as Twilight. By stealing a daughter from another family, turning her into a personal student, then making her into an alicorn princess making her her’s. Those are the procedures Celestia used to acquire a daughter. She’ has done it several times to several fillies during her rein in the past, and Cadence was one recent victim of her Royal fillynapping operations. Now Twilight…

Dragons successfully hatched by unicorns for the entrance exam seldom get much time to spend with their applicants. The more powerful the unicorn, the longer the dragon is allowed to stay with them. They tend to have a similar color scheme to their surrogate hatcher.

The Elements react violently to not being worn by someone worthy. I’ve said this before, but forgot to mention that Spike could wear the Element of Loyalty without being hurt. He really could be a bearer.

The reason that Celestia turned Twilight into an Alicorn wasn’t just to make her a princess, it was merely the next step in her training.
 
I was watching PaleoSteno’s video on pony genetics and he raised the theory on Pegasus’ wings having magic in them, and therefore Alicorns have more magical ability. Twilight’s magical potential will only get stronger now, and it wouldn’t have been possible without her Alicorn transformation.

It would’ve been awesome had Twilight and Cadence had to deal with zombie ponies down there. You know these underground places such as the sewer levels tend to have their undeads. I also believe there is a secret colony of Diamond Dogs down there.
