Just thought I might as well remind educate people of the Eternal Thread’s existence, so long as we have the power of the forums in our hands.
 
Some history: Born during the 2013 New Year celebration, the thread was around before the global filters, before the DNP list, even before the Forums themselves. It’s a place where the gif party hasn’t ended in about a year, ever since the night of 2012, and it’s also a pretty good place to find reaction photos in. To add to that, it was also deleted temporarily by some mod shenanigans, causing some panic among the posters, locked temporarily after it crashed the entire site for a good ten minutes, and was where Blackie pretty much rose to God Tier in gif posting. All in one night.
 
So, if you feel like dropping a few gifs in and leaving, do so. Feed your master.
 
Also, don’t load without paginated comments unless you want to crash your browser.

Now that episode 6 is out, I think it’s high time that we created a thread for this ridiculous/awesome anime.
 
First of all, I can’t decide who gives more awesome speeches. Mako or Aikuro, Ryuko’s homeroom teacher. Those two have to be my favorite anime characters ever.
 
Second, I hope they can top episode 3’s battle, but judging how awesome that battle was, it’ll be nearly impossible to top it. Maybe the final battle between Ryuko and Satsuki will be the one.

I have noticed an increased amount of people who vocalize their opinion about Derpibooru in quite a negative way.
 
I mean, we are “scumbags”, “the assholes of the internet” (wow, we are getting compared to /b/ now!), most of the user base are rape apologists and more shit like that.
 
I mean, compared to ponibooru we are saints! Yet people have a really negative view of us. What is more, barely anyone complains about the site “in site”. It has been months (or weeks, cant remember) since the last negative post about derpiboru was posted in a pic/forum thread.
 
Its like people love poking the hive (us) and when we get mad at them and stink their sorry asses we are the bad guys, or something.

I just made a news post about a worrisome trend in the Do Not Post list reports we’ve been getting. All too often I see wording that implies users don’t understand what this site is or how DNP works.  
I’d like to debunk as many rumors about what we do here on Derpibooru as I can, so feel free to ask me things!

So, apparently, in order to inspire more strong female leads and general characters, Sweden has been using something called the Bechdel Test on movies. Apparently, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, all Star Wars movies, The Social Network, Pulp Fiction and all but one of the Harry Potter movies fail the test.
 
I’m all for strong female characters, trust me, but honestly, even if this test does work, I don’t want film companies to start writing “strong, tough, don’t-need-no-man” characters. In the same light, I don’t want “weak, ‘feminine’, misunderstood” male characters. I want humans. Humans that lean both ways in personality, who can change on the drop of a dime. I feel like new movie stereotypes would be born, and nobody wants that.
 
Also, if most of the Harry Potter movies failed, then what the hell were Hermione and Luna?

Both tags serve the same use, don’t they? Posting fanart of ponies when they were at a younger age.

I accidently forgot to set my anonymous status on a comment that I’d have liked to be anonymous (nothing drama-related, I just don’t want the username I use elsewhere on the internet to show up connected to explicit pony pictures). Lesson learned, anonymous status set to be on by default, but in the meantime, is there anything I can do about the post? There doesn’t seem to be any way to edit or delete them. Can I report the post and ask for it to be removed, or will that anger the mods?

I’m trying to find a picture of the Golden Oaks Library in a Winter Night scene where the Mane Cast and most of the secondary casts from season 1 are either inside the library, or outside playing in the snow. I remember very well that the picture was uploaded onto Ponibooru a long time ago, but I was never able to find it since the site’s demise. I don’t think it’s uploaded onto Derpibooru.

Inspired by a recent post, the topic of selfcest came up.  
If you can’t work it out, selfcest is basically the term “Go fuck yourself” made as literal as possible.

I wish I was a girl, Most of the time I think this. I never fitted in with other boys when growing up. I don’t understand the appeal of being a guy. I have mostly girls for friends. I usually feel more connected with girls. I had a couple of dreams that I was a girl and crushing on some guy. On occasion I feel like wishing to be a girl instead. As I began to learn to there are ups and downs to everything. So I don’t know. I thought seeing a therapist about this.

There are many depictions, within our fandom of hooves. Which do you like best?

When do we use tags like Pinkiedash and Twilestia but not the ‘lesbian’ or ‘shipping’ tag? If the picture has only those two characters in it does it deserve the tag?
 
Onto more Explicit content, when do we use ‘lesbian’, ‘gay’, and ‘straight’ but not ‘shipping’? Is shipping only used when referring to romantic clop?

You know, I’ve seen a lot of humanizations (mostly Spike) that aren’t 10/10 human. Like, they have gills or scales and stuff.
 
Should a new tag be used too? Monster People?
 
We have a ‘tailed humanization’ a ‘winged humanization’, and a ‘horned humanization’ tag. What happened to the ‘earred humanizations’ tag? And what about a tag for humanized characters, that aren’t Equestria Girls designs, that are technicolor?

Sometimes I think it’d be easier if we could search fanart by the user who uploaded it. You know how ’Boorus like Gelbooru and Danbooru let you search by uploader? Something like that.

How would you rate certain character fans in terms of annoyance?  
1 being the most annoying 5 being the least.

Lets talk space. The data from the sadly now crippled Kepler satellite has been compiled, and it’s looking rather interesting. The most recent estimate for earth sized planets is sitting at around 40billion in our galaxy…and it’s estimated that there are countless billions of galaxies in just the visible universe. Try wrapping your head around that, the very idea is staggering to behold.
 
So, what does this all mean? It means that, in theory, there could be trillions of not only habitable worlds…but inhabited ones. We could be living in a universe that is teaming with life.
 
Here I sit, typing on a lap-top, on a site dedicated to cartoon ponies. We are but a speck, upon a speck, upon a speck in the grand sea of stars that ebbs across our night sky. A single pair of eyes looking up, with countless trillions looking back down. What a wonderful universe we live in.

Do we use “Macintosh” for any reason other than it’s the most popular spelling amongst fans?
 
10/1 his name is “McIntosh”. He’s named after an apple and there’s no fruit called “Macintosh Red”.

I’ve seen a lot of fanart that doesn’t use the Equestria Girls or FIM hairstyles for ponies. I don’t think “Alternate Hairstyle” fits since they’re not horses.

We always use ‘foalcon’ to refer to anything involving someone under 16, or the species equivalent of that. We also use tags like ‘loli’ and ‘shota’ to refer to human foalcon.
 
What about a specific tag for foalcon involving dragons? Mostly Spike, you know, but OCs and arguably the teenage dragons count too.

“Shipping” refers to pairing characters up, be them canon or not. Lots of fandoms give names to canon pairings.
 
Take Pokemon: We have BalanceShipping (May’s parents in the anime), Franticshipping (Sapphire and Ruby from the Pokespe manga), and Gracefulshipping (Wallace and Winona, mainly in Pokespe). All of those are canon and all of them have names.
 
I think we should do the same for pony ships on here. What if someone wanted to look up, or even block, Cup/Carrot or Shining/Cadance.

As I do upload a lot of OCs, I’ve found that lately, whether I paw through my own uploads or others, I’ve noticed the increased use of the “donut steel” tag. Now, for OCs such as these abominations, I understand the legitimacy of the tag. But I feel like that it’s now being used more and more to take a dig at perfectly legitimate OCs such as this one or even this. Now, I understand that we all have a different definition for “legitimate” OCs. But these OCs have perfectly un-eye scarring color patterns (whether you think they’re good or not is a matter of personal opinion), and the second one isn’t even doing anything. What’s so “donut steel” about them? Would it be okay to remove those tags, and if so, what should be the conditions for removing them from future photos?
