You’re right, I misspoke. “Sudden” wasn’t the word I was looking for. In fact, one of my criticisms about that scene involved how not-sudden it was. I’ll post my entire dialogue about that scene in a few minutes if anyone’s interested.

It was okay. She makes a better heroine that she does a villain, and if they had continued with her as the main character in the later movies, it would have been good. Unfortunately, from what I’ve heard, they didn’t do that.
 
I still would have liked it better without the sudden out-of-nowhere heel-face turn in the first movie, though.
 
Also, I really couldn’t stand the part at the end where they suddenly hate each other and almost break up. I’d give reasons, but I might piss off a lot of people in the process.

Writing my review of Rainbow Rocks. I find myself sympathizing more and more with the characters the script apparently wants me to root against. Specifically the Dazzlings, but I also find myself agreeing with what Rainbow Dash has to say; as lead guitarist, I’ve had the task of making sure the other band members don’t fall behind, and at least with her song, “Awesome as I Wanna Be,” she remembers that the title of the movie is Rainbow Rocks and that there should be at least one rock song in the movie.

Hey, I was never really a brony to begin with. I’m just a guy who reviews musical movies, and, well, Rainbow Rocks falls under that description. :P

The context is when I talk about how despite having the title Rainbow Rocks, none of the movie’s soundtrack is rock, and I ask during the “Shake Your Tail” song if anyone is genuinely impressed by how hard this rocks. That’s when I drop a link to my Succubus music video and say, “I know it’s blatant self-promotion, but if your mind is really blown by this so-called rock music… then oh boy, do I have something that’ll rock your socks off.”

Not that I hate most retrospective videos, it’s just that with every list, it feels like they spend half of it just jerking off about how much 2016 sucked. And here I am sitting in the corner being the only one who believes that 2016 wasn’t that bad.
