It makes sense for tagging purposes. Most people generally don’t want to get pictures of NMM when searching for Luna. Or at least that was the case when this rule was introduced way back when. Same rule was then later applied to Celestia and Daybreaker, too.

I didn’t read the IDW comics (however I really want to at some point), but my guess is that mirrored, evil versions of Celestia and Luna have different personalities from their regular counterparts too. As suggested by the word “mirrored”, the exact opposite kind of personality, in fact. Yet, evil celestia and evil luna imply regular Celestia and Luna.

And when it comes to designs - I tend to disagree too, designs of Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker are not THAT far off from Luna and Celestia in their usual form.

That doesn’t make any sense.

They have significantly different designs and personalities from their counterparts. Other people feel the opposite intuition of their inseparability as you:

@LightningBolt: Not exactly, [Sci-Twi and Twilight Sparkle] are not separate like Daybreaker or Nightmare Moon. More like King Thorax, so all Sci-twi images still have Twilight Sparkle tags [….]

I tried to search for this on Tagging forum, but couldn’t find anything. So I’m making this post to make a suggestion, or else ask a question about this topic.

Because I legitimately do not understand why daybreaker doesn’t imply princess celestia, and nightmare moon doesn’t imply princess luna.

It’s not like Daybreaker is some sort of different character that can exist in a vacuum independently from Princess Celestia, because Daybreaker is obviously Princess Celestia’s alter-ego. Same goes for Princess Luna and Nightmare Moon.

Maybe someone can please explain this to me?
